Today was a nice day off, if only the construction workers hadn’t started working at 7 a.m. I’m glad I have been training for it for years- sleeping during construction, that is. Once I woke up, I did some reading and worked on a few projects, then Victor, Dana and I went to do errands. We needed to hit a hardware store, and later found a gift shop with ROOMS full of cards- I was in heaven! Victor needed to go to Wal-mart, but it ended up that they couldn’t help him, so he had to call someone else. He was wandering around on the phone while Dana shopped. Now, in Spokane, it would be much easier to spot him in a store, but in the South, wow, not so easy. When we got back, I ... read more

My alarm went off sometime around the butt crack of dawn. We had to leave at 6:45, so getting showered and things had to happen earlier. When a day starts off with something like this, how can it not be great? He and I also sat at breakfast and watched non-regular-hotel-guests try to figure out how to make waffles. Quite entertaining. Did I mention it was torrential downpour outside? I think the last time I saw it rain that hard was in Kentucky last March as we were about an hour ahead of some major tornadoes! We could barely hear each other talk in the ... read more

After a very pleasant 3 and 1/2wks. in Florida,I headed West.Somewhere in Alabama, while on the interstate, the RV,which has been running perfectly, just suddenly quit running, like someone flipped a switch. It would turn over but not a hint of starting.Fluids, wires, hoses all seemed OK.So I made the call for a tow truck. While waiting for it,I took off the air filter and pumped the throttle. No gas came out of the jets,so I wondered about not having fuel, despite the gauge showing about an 1/8 tank remaining.Of courses the huge wrecker didn't have any, so we called his buddy to bring some out. After putting 5 gallons in the tank, she started right up.It was an expensive lesson about the calibration of the fuel gauge. But fortunately nothing more serious. So after losing several hrs. and $,I continued on to Mississippi.... read more
