I can't believe we are onlyl 16 days from departure! Where has August and September gone? Today I recieved a notification of a group Conference Call for next week with the CCS Program Manager and the other volunteers arriving on the same day. This is new... they did not do this when I went to Peru and I have say it's a great idea! I also recieved word of my placement...my job while I'm in Morocco. Drum roll please...... My placement is: Lala Maryem Center for Abandoned Children A little details about the site: This orphanage has over 250 orphans or abandoned children, of that approximatley 25 have physical/mental challenges. The orphanage was founded in 1914 by a French man and they only get about 2% of their funding from the goverment. What will I be ... read more

It seems so strange to be doing another travel blog. Has it really been almost 4 years since my amazing volunteer trip with Cross Cultural Solutions (CCS) to Ayacucho, Peru? It is hard to believe but it has! I had planned almost 2 years ago to go to India last spring. Unfortunately due to changes at work I was not able to go. I didn't lose the money I had put down but I couldn't get it back either. CCS would hold it for one year from the date I would have departed to be used for a future trip. The last morning that I spent in Philadelphia was more sightseeing. I had a couple of errands to run and then decided to stop and get some breakfast at a café called Mrs K’s. Apparently it is quite well known to locals, according to the woman I asked for a recommendation. The food was pretty much, but as ever it was far too much for me to manage. To try and work some of the breakfast off I walked up to Betsy Ross’ house which is in a lovely area by lots of great shops including several clothing boutiques and a lovely gourmet food shop.
