Today we said our fond farewells to the beautiful city of Boston; we have seen and done so much and we are very sad to be moving on, but as the saying goes, 'Time waits for no Man' and we have an itinerary to follow! But as the Bee Gees sang in their massive number one of 1968, 'I feel I'm going back to Massachusetts' and hopefully we might well do some day. Before we leave, Steve and I had an important task to perform, namely to pick up our rental car from the airport. Obfuscator writes: Having been up pretty late the night before with uploading material and laundry, we awoke fairly late in Bar Harbor. Our plan for the day was to explore Acadia National Park, the second smallest National Park in the service, at least according to our 1989 National Geographic Guide Book (which was perhaps the greatest 50ยข investment ever). We stopped first at the Visitor's Center to see if there was anything we could possibly need to know, and it turned out that there wasn't. Camping was only available in one of the campgrounds, but they didn't anticipate we'd have any trouble finding a spot, since twenty had been available the night before, and this was a Sunday. Obfuscator writes: Lying theft aside, the Motel 6 in Portland was a pleasant enough place to sleep. So, you know, feel free to stay there for a night, and just make sure you chop off the hands of the useless front desk foreigners as compensation for their theft. We were happy to have spent the night indoors, as a quick glance out the window in the morning showed us that there had been significant rain overnight. The forecast I was able to get from a pirated WiFi connection predicted rain all day and through the night. We decided that with weather that poor, we weren't going to be able to enjoy much outdoors, so we figured we'd check Portland out a bit more thoroughly before we left it.
