The Orca Show
Wednesday the 10th was a lay back day. We made a quick trip to Walmart then came home to relax. I borrowed Kim's golf cart and collected my laundry and headed up to the bath house to see what the new rules were this year. I found 2 machines empty so I got my loads in and headed back to the camper.
The weather was a little better than it had been, at least we had sun but still that biting cool north wind. The temp was about 58 but if you got out of the wind it was quite pleasant sitting out and reading.
I collected the wash, straightened the camper, walked Oscar then headed for the lake. I can't believe I've been here a week and a half and haven't been there yet. I drove the golf cart and almost froze to death. The wind while you're traveling was icy. The lake is still beautiful but choppy today and no birds to photograph. I headed back and picked up Kim and we both went to the RV show in the park to look at a few models. The new RVs are beautiful but who
wants to pay $60,000.00 more for just a few more creature comforts. Not to mention, you'd be driving a big box.
Once home it was dinner time and a cup of tea to try to warm up.
Thursday we left at 9 am for our 2nd trip to Sea World but sat in traffic for an hour. Florida roads are pretty good but when cars tangle, which they do often, it becomes a mess. We got to Sea World in time to see the first Killer Whale show which started at 11 am. As it turned out it was an educational show for the kids and was shorter than usual. So we went to see the Arctic exhibit while waiting for the 12:15 Whale show. We say the walrus, sea lions and beluga whales all fascinating to watch.
The 2nd whale show was much better with the emphasis on saving our oceans and the role Orcas play in the eco system. Part of the show was halted because 3 of the whales had their own idea about how things were going to progress. One whale slammed into another and then the 3 went into a far corner
and proceeded to make the water boil. Don't know if they were fighting or loving but the trainers just stood by and watched while another trainer talked to the audience about the habits of whales and the routine for the whales at Sea World. About 10 min later order was restored and the show went on.
After the show we had lunch then headed back to the car. The temperature had warmed up nicely by then so we could take off our jackets and enjoy the walk.
At 5:30 we left for dinner to go to Joe's Crab Shack that has a special on Thursday, a 1 lb. lobster for $17.00. As it turned out no one had lobster, but crab and shrimp and I had salmon. We each had a porch punch first, except Ginnie because she was driving, and we enjoyed that as well.
Back home about 7:30, time for some tv.
