Palo Alto, CA Mar 2010 - PF Chang's Bistro
Published: July 28th 2010North America » United States » California » Palo AltoDay 94 - Townsville - Mission Beach (Magnetic Island) We caught an early ferry over to Magnetic Island from Townsville, a really pretty island just off the coast. When we arrived at the ferry terminal we hopped on a bus to one end of the island and from here we walked to some more secluded bay one of which was called Florence Bay and it was beautiful even with the dark clouds looming above. We had a little sit on a rock before heading back to catch the bus back and we were lucky to get to the shelter in time before it started tipping it down (it only rains on average on 45 days a year and we managed to be there on one of those days!). We decided to get the ferry back a ... read more

Published: March 7th 2009North America » United States » California » Palo AltoHi everyone! Oke, so here it is, the way overdue first entry.. Don't act so surprised ;) I'll try not to write a book, although enough has happened and there's so much I want to share with everyone.. The last weeks have been more than hectic, the day after I arrived I was programming the experiment (thank god for that E-prime course we've had, and Darsin for the support and tricks over email haha) from 9.00 till 20.00, and in the time that has passed we completely programmed our first experiment, ran 76 subjects (with Emma getting a pneumonia as wll, so I ended up running subjects on my own from 8 in the morning till 6.30 at night), cleaned the data and are almost done with the data analysis.. So for the B&Cers in the ... read more

Highway 35 West of Palo Alto
Published: April 25th 2009North America » United States » California » Palo AltoAfter watching the Michigan State vs. Penn State game at The Old Pro in Palo Alto, I took the recommendation from a Penn State alum to head West up to highway 35 for the good views up there. You can see West to the Pacific (on a clear day), and across the Bay East to say Hayward and North of San Jose. My Spartans did not fare well on that day. However, back in State College Pennsylvania where it had snowed earlier in the day and was the site of the game, was much colder than in Palo Alto. Felt like about 75 degrees in the mid day heat. They claim The Old Pro is the best sports bar in the Bay area. They did have a lot of TVs there, and many games on at ... read more
I found out today from my mother, after telling her that I’ve been hiking lately, that my late grandfather was into hiking and that it was one of his favorite hobbies. I guess it’s in my blood, no wonder it feels good. Gracias abuelo! Our trip was to the Arastradero Preserve, a very nice place and scenic all throughout its landscape. Benjamin and I jumped out the car the minute we got there and foolishly headed the wrong direction on a trail, meanwhile gluing our faces on the map and pretending to know how to use a compass…we were definitely on training wheels using it, and this was proven when we ended up going the wrong direction and realizing that we were by the freeway and no where near the lake that we had planned to ... read more
