Bonjour Day Six!! Well... this morning we woke up in our Wigwam, lounged around our TP, then grabbed breakfast at a Route 66 diner (Joe & Aggies) and were in Flagstaff by noon. But between Holbrook and Flagstaff we passed through Joseph City stopping to take pictures at the Geronimo Trading post and the Jack Rabbit trading post. After Joseph City we drove through Winslow, drove over Canyon Diablo, which really isn't a canyon at all, more like a 4ft valley with a creek running through it. Why it's called Canyon Diablo, I don't know. We then drove through Winona passing an old Route 66 bridge. Taking a side trip, we went to visit the Twin Arrows, an old Route 66 landmark.. Well… Today is the day, we find out whether we will be able to hike all the way into the Grand Canyon - something that both Carl and Maria both said was a “must” for the trip, but at least one is having second thoughts… Getting up early seems to have been a habit for this part of the trip, and today is no exception… the only difference is that today we frittered away some of that time sitting in the parking lot at the only places where the hotels wireless internet connection worked so we could publish the blog!
