Who Are You? Who Are We? Seems impossible that we are 2 people who just had the good fortune to spend 4 days in the desert experiencing mind blowing music produced by 6 legends of rock and roll! It was awesome and unforgettable. Speaking of unforgettable, I want to be sure to mention the fabulous food that was part of Desert Trip. There were so many options and all that we tasted were delicious! Last night's concert was epic! Definitely Marc's favorite of the three. I loved Paul McCartney, but watching Peter Townshend play the guitar was a thrill! The Who's set was 22 songs, all classics! Did you know that Zak Starkey is the current drummer for The Who? He is Ringo's son and guess who taught him to play--Keith Moon! Roger Waters was phenomenal ... read more

The past two days have been awesome! I essentially decided to come west this summer before the cruise because I wanted to see the Jays play somewhere on the road. They didn't disappoint - two big wins! But first off I want to give major kudos to the fans in Arizona - they're good sports and they're super friendly. So yes, yesterday was a recoop day - get final things organized for the cruise, repack some things and just veg in air-conditioning before heading off to Chase Field. I went early because I wasn't sure what time the gates opened. Turns out it's 1.5hrs before instead of 2hrs... but that's ok, I just hung out with all the Jays fans. I met people from Vancouver to Moncton, but the vast majority of people were West coasters. ... read more

Hello, you can call me Frank and this is my first travel blog. When do you start getting ready for a trip to Alaska? Well, Jeanne and I have been getting ready at least since 2009, when we purchased a new Winnebago Aspect 30J class C motor home. So far, we have driven it around Arizona and New Mexico with two multi-week trips to Oregon and Colorado. For the past two years, I have served as a Church Service Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. During this time Jeanne has helped care for her mother who was disabled by a stroke. Now we are ready for our trip of a lifetime. We have renewed our passports, checked Canadian travel regulations, made reservations as far as Calgary where we will witness the ... read more

Geo: 33.4479, -112.083The Sixty Five Years Young Birthday Tour continued after a series of second-childhood adventures that included chasing aliens, sand tobogganing, and, most recently, stomping through an old western town playing out cowboy gunslinger fantasies. Shady Lady was starting to get a little weak-kneed every time Dusty Dave B tied his imaginary horse to the railings outside of our hotel, and now Dusty Dave almost always walks with his thumbs hooked in his belt loops- part of that is probably the new cowboy swagger he has, but I suspect it's largely because his belt doesn't fit after his steak misadventure in the Big Texan Steak Ranch. With all this renewed testosterone and estrogen flying around we think we overheard them talking about trying for more kids. Then came Buckin' Bully, the meanest, nastiest, wildest mechanical bull ... read more

Geo: 33.4479, -112.083 We left Tucson and drove up toward Phoenix. We took a side trip to Casa Grande Ruins National Monument. It is a large house built around 1350AD. It was built by Indian tribes that roamed the area around that time. They built a compound and the big house was in the center of it. After visiting there, we checked into our hotel, had a nap and then dinner. This morning, we got up and headed out to Deer Valley Rock Art Center. It is a huge pile of basalt rocks that have petroglyphs carved into them. They were carved around the same time as the Casa Grande. After visiting there, we drove over to Taliesin West, which is Frank LLoyd Wright's western studio. His first studio was in Wisconsin. After he developed pneumonia, ... read more

THE BASICS We definitely wound down for the last few weeks of our trip. Strange to think that for people still working, two and a half weeks might be a nice vacation. We spent a week in Flagstaff, but it was very windy and cool, and it rained, so we mostly enjoyed nestling inside the RV. Finally headed south, but since it was Columbus Day weekend, we couldn't get a campsite in Sedona. Serendipity: we camped for several days in Cottonwood, not far south of Sedona. Had unusually good meals there. At last, on to Phoenix, where we divided our efforts between readying the RV for storage and visiting my brother Johnny and his wife Katy. With them, we attended the Arizona State Fair, visited the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park (wonderful!), and I had my first experience ... read more

We had 2 great days in Phoenix with Bob's family. Brother Bill invited almost the entire clan who live close-by to his wonderful home for steaks on the grill. It was so much fun to see nieces and nephews and to meet great-nieces! Brother Bill & Tracie have a lot of toys, including my all time favorite Galaxians video game. He's a collector of "good toys" so fun was had by all. (He has bigger toys too but the boats will have to wait until our next visit). The second day we spent with Sister Nancy and her grand-daughter, 5 year old Sedona at our pool and out for pizza. She was so adorable, makes me look forward from an announcement for one of my own, but hey, kids, if you're reading, no pressure here!... read more

Bob's sister, Barb, got us an Air BNB about a mile away from her house, near LAX in Westschester portion of LA. She has a lovely home with a beautiful garden and two precious (really) rescue dogs, Blossom and Daisy. We met some of her great friends and spent time looking at old family photos in the afternoon, then went to dinner in Santa Monica with Barb's dear friend, Laurel, who is President & CEO of the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce. It was a lovely evening, a beautiful sunset and great conversation, ending with a walk on their boardwalk. We were sad to leave, but not for long because we are heading to Phoenix, where it is raining of all things! There, we will see a large portion of the rest of Bob's family for ... read more
