Born 1942 in Chicago, IL. Graduate of St Benedict H.S., Attended Loyola University. Drafted into U.S. Army Oct 1966. Served tours in Korea and Germany. I volunteered for Vietnam three times and they didn't send me. If you want to avoid something in the Army, volunteer for it. Discharged Sep 1975. Married to Jeanne Nelson Jan 1977. We have three children and I have two by a previous marriage, one of whom is deceased.
I worked as a management intern at Walgreens, a corporate merchandising representative at Philip Morris, a commissioned officer in the Field Artillery (I think they assigned me to the Field Artillery because I am deaf in my left ear. Nobody in the Field Artillery hears very well) with a variety of command and staff positions at Ft Carson, CO., Ft Sill, OK., 2nd Infantry Division, Republic of Korea and VII Corps Artillery in Germany. After my military service I worked in various capacities for the Social Security Administration but spent most of my career as an Operations Supervisor. I retired from there in 2002.
