"The tans will fade but the memories will last forever." ~ Hi y'all! How are you on doing on this wonderful Canada Day and Happy Birthday to my wonderful father!! I didn't bring my usual assortment of flashing Canada Day hats, glasses, etc., but I do have my Canada Day T-shirt! Before I forget, Happy Canada day to our wonderful friend Keith who is on a very spiritual and life-changing journey, which is walking the El Camino in Spain, (pilgrimage walk) a journey of over 700 kms, on foot over mountains, plains, country roads, dangerous terrain etc. It's so challenging from his blogs; the extreme heat, the toll it takes on your feet and your mind, staying in hostels, in small rooms with strangers that snore...OMG, I'd have committed a crime the first or second day...: ... read more

Don't know the reason, Stayed here all season, Nothing to show but this brand new tattoo . But it's a real beauty, A Mexican cutie, How it got here, I haven't a clue. Wastin' away again in Margaritaville, Searchin' for my long lost shaker of salt , Some people claim that there's a woman to blame , But I know it's nobody's fault. Is there anyone on the face of the earth that hasn't heard "Margaritaville"? I can't say we're nibbling on spongecake, pretty sure I don't have a brand new tattoo, and as far as I can remember, I don't have a Mexican cutie...(and if I did have a Mexican cut... read more

I plan to give you love, nuturing, and enough dysfunction to make you funny ~ Motherhood quote Just because you go away, doesn't mean you can completely forget your home life and more importantly, your kids. I struggled with that going to Paris, as I'd never been away from the girls for that long. Ava was only 7 back in 2012... I really needed to be able to do this trip not worried about anybody or without feeling guilty. Lara's health has greatly improved (yay Lara) so this just worked out right. Our kids are so happy we are doing this, but at the same time, they aren't that old that they don't feel our presence and attention missing. I admit I was an awfully homesick kid; even when I was 12. I remember slow dialing ... read more

"Heaven seems a little closer when you are sitting by a beach." ~ I tell ya, a girl could get used to this type of thing. Waking up to the balmy sea kissed air, with no clock to tell me what time it is, and this morning (Domingo) Sunday, we are enjoying a steaming cup of Mexican dark roast coffee on our own terrace (well it's "OURS" for 6 days) not 100 feet from the ocean...and when it gets too hot, well we go jump in our own pool (well it's OUR pool for 6 days....hahaha!) The grocery store has an impressive bakery, so Al is enjoying a variety of danish, raspberry tart & lemon muffin. (see the king have his breakfast by the pool). Well I lied...this morning we did not sleep in, we really ... read more

"Waking up, with sunbeams in my eyes, and the world outside, seems to pass me by. Embrace the land, where the ocean meets the sand, and emotion fades away, until you take my hand". Midnight Sun lyrics As 'tis the life. If it was any better it would be illegal ;) Can one be arrested for being "high" on happiness? Our first day in Cancun at the boutique hotel was fantastic. (All went well with our flights, even though I was skeptical about United. Chicago/O'Hare airport is an entity onto itself yet a very interesting place to spend a few hours if you have to be somewhere.) Cancun Airport had us through immigration & customs in no time! The quickest we've ever been processed. Many Canadian/US airports could learn about efficiency of getting travelers through as ... read more

"Never go on trips with anyone you do not love" ~ Buenos Dias family & friends :) HELLO SUMMER! After a long winter of our discontent it is so wonderful to see June. We were fortunate enough to escape in January to Playa & not have to witness a whole winter of seeing old man winter kick the stuffing out of everyone. (If you are receiving this blog and you never have before, it's because I imported emails from my yahoo account & yours may have inadvertently come over; please ignore if you do not wish to read them!) Right now while some of you are snoring, Al & I are on our FIRST trip together ALONE. Did I mention ALONE? So we got up, finished packing up and caught a coach to Cancun. We then caught a taxi to the pier and then jumped on a ferry to the Isla Mujeres. The ferry only took 30mins. We arrived at our final destination in Mexico, a small beach island. We checked into our hotel. We had booked a room with a balcony and sea view. It was lovely. We chilled out and relaxed, then went for a walk to explore the small island. Its busier than we would have liked but still lovely. For dinner we found some street carts and decided this is what we would eat till we left. Phill and me have fallen in love with Mexican street food. Its cheap and tasty, and every stall is different. We pigged out for less than ... read more

When I first woke up I felt really sick. I started to feel slightly ill before leaving the states and it got worse when I got to Mexico. I really wanted to go to Isla Mujeres but felt so rough. Anyway, I dosed myself up with Paracetamol tablets and decided to go for it. I got a taxi from my hotel to the ferry and was over in Isla Mujeres within 15 minutes. When I first got to the island, I decided to walk around and explore, and felt like I was the only tourist on there, but never felt unsafe. After about an hour or so, I decided to do a boat tour which involved 3 different snorkelling locations, seeing a turtle farm and having lunch. The snorkelling was the best I have been on ... read more
