So after my last blog I headed out to the mountain and played around with different skis and eventually bought myself a new pair of Head Pure Love skis. They are fab skis and I can already tell the difference in their handling to my old ones they did unfortunately set me back a few £s! Last night was a quite and chilled one spent in the chalet. Today was a late start and the very few domestic duties we do have called - changing the bed and tidying Marie-Eves and my room. This afternoon Guy collected us and took us into Quebec city so we could watch the Red Bull Crashed Ice Event. This was one mad event! I was aware from looking at the forecast that it was going to be cold but despite ... read more

I bet you have all been breathing a sigh of relief silently thanking God that I haven't written any more chapters to my "War and Peace" travel blog. Well I decided that despite very little going on here it was time just to update you all. The past few days have been very quiet. Saturday involved a short 90 minute ski session on my own as everyone else apart from Marie-Eve was in bed. We then headed towards Quebec and dropped the group off at the shopping mall whilst Marie-Eve and I did the food shopping and then chilled out in the coffee shop enjoying the peace and quite..... Sunday was a chilled morning in the chalet and we then went off karting in Quebec. The resounding agreement was that I was an aggressive driver and ... read more

So I know some of you have been complaining about how cold it is at home but believe me when I say that you are having completely tropical weather to what it is out here. After two days of snow the temperature dropped and for the past two days it has been cold to point of being unbelievable. For example this morning it was registering as -24 however the wind chill took it down to -32. Its a temperature that I really don't think you can comprehend till you are out in it. So what does this cold mean.....!? It means that when you venture out you have lots of layers on and do not leave any piece of skin exposed. My standard daily clothing has been underwear, long johns, wet/dry vest top, long sleeved t-shirt ... read more

This is a really short blog and is mainly being used for me to upload my photos from the day. We had a chilled out morning since we all had the day off today. We hit the slopes around midday and ended up playing around on the slopes as a group. We ended up in the "Enchanted Wood" where half way through we took of our respective skis and boards and ended up playing round and part of it entailed burying Sam in the snow even though he didn't have a ski jacket on (the guy is mad!!). Due to the fresh snow fall of 20cm yesterday and overnight we were able to have some true fun and games. Skiing the path out of the wood was interesting as it had a fair few jumps to ... read more

Ok so this is the first of the "boring" blogs. Well boring to some but not to others..... Ski school started with avengence with Pat yesterday at 10am. The basic premise is that we have four hours of ski school on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. We have the day off to practice on Wednesday and we also get an extra hour in the classroom on a Thursday! The five of us met up with Pat outside of ski school yesterday morning having done a quick green run. Pat thereafter took us up the mountain and the hard work started. I have to say that within the day my carving had improved. I can ski backwards I just need to improve my confidence in my ability but my 360 turns are now where to be seen ... read more

OK I'm really sorry for adding another blog so quickly however I have actually done something today and since most of the time my blogs are going to be pretty boring as they will involve skiing, skiing and a bit more skiing. So after my blog last night a load of the group decided that a house party was in order I opted out and judging by the state of them this morning it was probably a good choice. We headed out first thing to a shopping mall and sorted out our Canadian mobiles ironically it was $49 for a mobile and pay as you go sim and you got $20 worth of credit or $40 for the sim only. Anyway it is now set up so if you text my uk mobile you will get ... read more

I eventually arrived safe and well it just took me 37 hours door to door!!! I was able to get my flight out the next morning with no problem. I was met in the airport by Guy the course co-ordinator and he took me off to the resort and my temporary home for the night. Basically we had temporarily been put up in a chalet until our home for the next 10 weeks was ready today. I have to say that as we drove to the resort we turned a corner and the resort came fully into view and Guy just looked at me and a big beam appeared on my face. So we dropped my case off and I emptied my ski bag of all items except my skis i.e two skis jackets, two salopettes ... read more

The last weekend of January 2008 was spent at Mont Saint Anne for MISN's yearly ski trip. For all those who are unfamiliar with MISN, it stands for McGill International Student Network. Ski conditions were great, we even managed to find some powder. After a long drive on Friday, with a long stop at the IGA for supplies, we arrived in Mont Sainte Anne. We dropped off our luggage in the rooms and hit the slopes for some night skiing. It was FREEZING!!!. After snowboarding we cooked up some tacos and burritos for dinner, followed by some tequila and various other liquid substances. Saturday morning was a lazy one as Andy and I cleaned the condo a little and then walked over to the slopes. I snowboarded the afternoon, spending the greater part in the woods ... read more
