Hola amigos My first flight overnight from Van is complete and mom and I are reunited at the airport! We are sittin in the family friendly zone with a pair of friendly tigers awaiting our 8 hour flight to Lima. Apparently mom overpacked and had to check her bag but I'm set with my loaned backpack from Catherine (thanks!) and room to spare for anything I want to bring back. We've reviewed our itinerary and cross referenced it and the Frommers travel book along with my notes from friends' recommendations. Ceviche being the main food must I keep hearing about and Pisco sours to drink! We will try and give updates along the way and add photos too. It will be tough for me to be without full iPhone use due to roaming but I've got ... read more

he DISTILLERY DISTRICT of TORONTO, is a very well DEVELOPED DISTRICT, in which is FILLED with so many VAST ARRAYS of CULTURE-LIFE throughout the AGES. This DISTRICT was SITUATED BEFORE the CONFEDERATION of CANADA & had been GOVERNED UNDER the BRITISH EMPIRE RULING of 1832, and EVENTUALLY BECAME the LARGEST DISTILLERYwithin ALL of the BRITISH EMPIRE, within the WESTERN WORLD!!! THE DISTILLERY has a very OLD EUROPEAN-CHARMED ATMOSPHERIC appeal to it. In which is FILLED with so many VAST DIFFERENTIAL looking INDUSTRIALIZED BUILDINGS. Thus BRINGING such a UNIQUELY CHARACTERISTIC look of VICTORIAN ARCHITECTURE to ONE of the OLDEST NEIGHBORHOODS of TORONTO. When your STROLLING DOWN the STREETS of this ADORINGLY QUAINT NEIGHBORHOOD, you DON'T even FEEL as if your in TORONTO nor CANADA anymore!!! The FEELING that the DISTILLERY can POSSESS is on a very PERPLEXED ... read more

It was the middle of October when we took to the skies once more, up and over the Rockies, across the prairie provinces and into lake country – thousands of them dotted the landscape below us – including the largest of the ‘Great Lakes’ – Superior - and finally Lake Ontario. Our plan of attack for settling into Toronto life included introducing ourselves to the world of CouchSurfing, which is an online community which matches up those willing to share their couches with travelling strangers in need of a couch to sleep on and looking for people to meet. We had lined up a couple of couches for our first week in Toronto (or TO or T-dot as locals like us refer to it). Unfortunately our first couch fell through, so we spent our first 3 ... read more

Geo: 43.6485, -79.3854Although I have only spent 1 week and probably seen about 0.00000000001 percent of the country, I think Canada is a pretty cool country; I can't wait to go back.I thought the United States was Ok, but I liked the feel of Canada better. The best analogy to compare the two (well only for people who have been to India and Nepal would be able to relate to this) is that the USA is India and Canada is Nepal; being in the USA means a more busier country, chaos and more people, granted I have only been to New York; And Canada is Nepal; more isolated, friendlier people and surrounded with nature and mountains to escape to. An early departure from New York was needed to time my arrival in to Toronto for Jamie ... read more

We slept in a car park just outside Toronto, beside McDonalds. It was only -12C outside and there was ice beginning to appear on the inside of the windscreen. The 7 seater car was slightly uncomfortable and it was not a good sleep, it was especially bad being woken up every so often from the car being switched on for heating - the cold did not bother me at all. At 10am, we went to the supermarket just beside us, it was called "Sunny Foodmarket." I bought some sandwhich meat - Halal beef - and some bread, to help ease the cost of food. The idea was to go to the CN Tower, but when we got there it was more than $25 to go up the CN Tower. Ace decided to go up there regardless, ... read more

So after a whirlwind trip to London that involved quality time with Mom and then quality time with tequila we arrived at Pearson airport only to find LAN's check in counter closed. Hungover and hazy it took us about 45 minutes to figure out that we needed to check in at American Airlines. For the record I mentioned that I was pretty sure we had to check in at Air Canada, that should count for something. Now we are sitting at the bar, Newport and I are trying to drink our fear of flying away and Woof is just drinking. We're waiting to see what flight we are getting on. They oversold the flight and asked for volunteers to take a later one. After hearing that the later flight has 1 less connection and they are ... read more

Arrived in to Toronto in the early afternoon in the train from Ottawa, nice train ride which came along side the great lake. We walked to our accommodation in China Town, which took some 45 minutes, the accommodation was a house, run by chinese, so you needed to take you shoes off at the front door, all the house in the street seemed to be sloping towards each other, and walking up the stairs to our room it was no different, you leaned to the left, not much but enough to unsteady your balance. The room was basic, looked clean. We dumped our clothes and head out for a walk. Dropped by Kensington Market and in to a cafe call Kensington, it is run by a French Moroccan lady who is a bit of a character, ... read more
