A la ... read more

Good Morning: Thank goodness we rolled the clocks back last night because I am still packing, charging batteries and checking my list for the very last time. The weather in Kitimat is overcast and raining like crazy. Many of us leave for Vancouver today. Our journey is long, 15 hours to Hong Kong and an additional 5 hours to Bali. Next stop Bali................ read more

So this will be my last entry into my Travel Blog. we have now returned home on March 23, 2011, from an fantastic trip to Australia & New Zeland. It was a trip of a life time for me as I had always wanted to go that area of the world. The people of both countries are very warm and friendly, and helpful. Sheila and I are both very happy we took the trip, and we did it with some very wonderful friends, Anne & Louie Zabot, we had fun. Louie and I both had a new experience, with the driving, as it was very different driving on the left side of the road, and sitting on the right side of the car. Took a couple three days to get used to it but we made ... read more

Halong Bay (Halong Heritage Resort) On March 2nd we travelled from Hanoi to Halong Bay. Halong Bay is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and covers approximately 580 square miles, with more than 2000 pinnacle shaped limestone and dolomite outcrops. According to legend the bay was formed when a gigantic dragon (ha long means descending dragon) plunged into the Gulf of Tonkin and created the islets by lashing its tail. We visited Hang Thien Cung or Celestial Palace Grotto which features sparkling stalactites and stalagmites. Like Hang Dau Go it is softly illuminated with coloured lights. Upon returning to the ship we were served a wonderful Vietnamese lunch and enjoyed the sights of the many islands and grotos. Now everyone needs to have an opportunity to sell their product. We not only had vendors come on ... read more

We finally made it out to the Great Barrier Reef, and it was a fantastic day. We had to get up before the sun came up as we had to drive out to Shute Harbour again, which is just out of Arlie Beach, but we boarded a large boat which is operated by a company called Fanta Sea. We again went into Hamilton Island but then continued on out to the Reef. It was a beautiful day, lot nicer then when we tried the first time. Sheila & Louie went snorkeling, I took a helicopter ride above the reef which was fantastic, and got a couple of pictures of the famous Heart Reef. flew a ways along part of the reef and then back to where we got on the helicopter. The helicopter lands on a ... read more

Well, we did not make it to the Great barrier Reef yet. We tried yesterday and got as far out as Hamilton Island and then was told that it was to rough. Everyone was very disappointed, but we will try again Friday morning, as the weather is to be much better. We did get a two hour boat ride out of it, even if we had to get up at 04;30 hrs. to get out to where we had to get the boat from. Got back home and went and did some shopping, and then back to our Apt. We did up some pork chops on the BBQ, and Anne & Louie had meat pie that they had purchased. Today was hair cut day for both me and Sheila, found a barber shop in Bowen, and ... read more

Hi everyone, just a short note to say that we are now in Coral Cove Bowen Australia. The place we are staying in is fantastic, very large apartment right on the Coral Sea. However we have been warned by the locals not to go into the water, don't even wade in the water along the shore, as there are BOX JELLYFISH, and there sting is deadly. Louie and Sheila were dis-appointed with that, but there is a very nice pool and hot tub at the resort here. It is still very hot and humid, We went shopping yesterday for some of the things we will need while staying in the apartment, like food, etc. We found a very nice butcher shop, and we bought some nice steaks, and we threw them on the BBQ last night ... read more

Good morning from Rock Hampton Australia, we arrived here yesterday afternoon, we had heavy rain from Noosa all the way up, but arrived safe and sound. The GPS again performed very well, brought us right to the front door of our hotel. We kind of chilled out for the rest of the afternoon, after we got settled. Went for a very nice supper later that day, and then back to the hotel. today we woke up to a very nice morning, had my morning coffee on the deck in the sunshine. Louie and Anne our going for lunch with a cousin of Anne, and Sheila & I will go for lunch and look around for the afternoon. ... read more

Well, time to catch up on my blog a little. We have been either two busy or no internet access to stay on top of this. We are in a nice resort town called Noosa Australia. It is a very nice place, but very busy little town. The weather here is fantastic, temp. in the 30 + range, and feel like were melting, as it is very muggy also. We have been doing a lot of sight seeing taking a river cruise, and going to the ocean beach area, they have beautiful beaches here in Australia. We are all having a fantastic time, the car is running good, the drivers are doing very well, and my GPS is working great, sure glad I had it along. We leave here on Tuesday Morning the 22nd. and up ... read more
