Some of the tilework outside the Dome of the Rock . Absolutely gorgeous. I ,non-muslim was not allowed into the Dome nor into the Mosque . It sits on the site of the 2nd temple over the altar where Abraham was set to sacrifice Issac...a holy site for each of the major religions but only accessable to Moslems.

The market area at Herod's Gate . I liked this area the best ... it was a village within the larger village of the walled city . There were 2 groceries ,a hardware store ,vegetable vendor's ,a coffee shop and always a few people shopping or visiting.

Still Herod's gate area . The vegetable /fruit vendors. The street curved around , folowing the wall , and I found an internet cafe that was very reasonable and pleasant . The owner was from Amman and he treated me very well .

At the Ethiopian Village . At one time their presence was significant in Jerusalem but they were crowded into smaller and smaller spaces literally and figuratively. They finally dug in their heels and built this village which is sort of above the church of the Holy Sepulchre .

The interior of St Anne's ... it was built by the Crusaders and I really liked it . The Accoustics are considered the best in Jerusalem . The clean uncluttered lines were sooooooo appealing .

Church of Mary Magdeline ... it sits on the hillside of the Mount of Olives overlooking the city . Great location and beautiful interior .

In St Anne's during the Easter Vigil ... it was amazing . The church of course had been built when candlelight was THE lighting available and it all glowed.

The Dome of the Rock an amazing structure built over the altar where Abraham brought Issac to be sacrificed...where the second temple once stood . The Moslems fear that the Jewish people want the area returned to their original ownership.

great photos
Hi Pamela, Great photos - have to say, it was a lovely walk down memory lane - it certainly is not a place that will change - your trip was much more extensive than mine though so it was good to see some new sites as well. MAK
