I'm from San Francisco and travelling to Sydney in September. Ihave a few weeks, but very little cash haha - any suggestions?
I'm also interested in camping in the Blue Mountains - is it too cold in September? is there a bus/train that goes there? Should I attempt to get a car and drive on the opposite side of the road than i'm used to?
Any other places I should see that are easy for a single broke traveller?
Thanks!
Reply to this I just got back from Sydney last week so I can help.
BLUE MOUNTAINS:
Catch the train from Central Station or Town Hall Station, it's about 2 hours journey. Upon arrival, catch the Hop on Hop Off Trolley Tours for $20 (don't get the bus tour which costs $39). I think I saw a promotion in one of the train stations regarding Blue Mountains.
FOOD:
If you're into Asian food, there's Dixon's Food Court in Chinatown, it has about 12 places offering diff food. Best one to visit is the Claypot & Sizzling Plate Kitchen - it's easily the most popular one there.
Sydney for a few weeks will get expensive... try catching a train to the surrounding suburbs in order to explore the place better.
Good luck!
Reply to this Hi there,
It will be cold in September, so bring some warm cloth.
Australia is one of the country in the world that take camping seriously because of the concern of bush fire. So you better check authority about it.
If you have a few weeks, you should go Melbourne too. It is cheaper than Sydney.
cheers
