Well I don’t even know where to start. Thank you all for your awesome support, God is answering prayers left and right. One thing that I am learning about that is that slow down and no are amazing answers to prayers and I don’t always need to hear a ‘yes.’ In the past couple of weeks I have seen God answer one of my pleas with not just a yes but with a beautiful miracle. It has been as if God were saying to me “I care about the things you care about Myrna and my heart goes out to my children so much more than yours does.” He is everything that I am not. I am too beginning to seek Him and strive to live a life that is characterized by a complete dependence on Him. What would our lives look like if we were wholly trusting in the Creator of this universe; our relationships, decisions, reactions etc.
The other thing that has been really big for me is I learned something really neat about a passage I have always loved:
“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of
Bekka and I
My very sweet German friend on kitchen staff the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary, His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; they shall mount up on wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”
So I learned that the imagery in this passage may have been drawn from the molting process of eagles. Every eagle experiences this time of depression and desperation at least once in their lives. It is a time where they are weakened and lose their feathers and as the calcium builds up in their beaks they fall off and they begin to walk very awkwardly. Many die, but some survive after a lot of laying out helplessly in the sun. It is found that the older eagles who have already molted before drop down fish and food to these helpless eagles. Eventually those that survive “renew their strength,” grow new stronger beaks and fresh feathers, and “mount up on wings” and soar…
It is neat to see that their may be this depth the passage…. Or at least to draw this analogy between the two. We need to soak in the Word and all that God is speaking to us when we are in our deepest darkest moments. We need to allow others who have been there lend us their support and encouragement and trust that there is hope. And on the other hand, are you and am I dropping fresh fish on others in areas that I have already “molted” in?
This weekend I am in London visiting my Uncle Onsy and Cousin Benjamin. I am having a really wonderful time. It is so good to see them and just hang out together. I’ve posted a few pictures from today and yesturday. I took a train here and it was 3.5 hours. I sat next to a Catholic School Religion teacher(she was 25) and we had some really neat conversation. I thank God for time in time again speaking through me and allowing me to use different situations in my life to minister to others even when I never realized they were of any relevance. Pray for that too. I
have been learning so much from the people around me at Capernwray and have been sharing so much also. It has been really a good time and I am preparing myself to take away what is good and what I enjoyed and learned from this time rather than leave just wishing it wasn’t yet over. I realize I may not see some of the people that I really care about again, just because of geographical barriers, but “A thousand years is a day and a day is a thousand years” and in the meantime there is technology and there are those nearer that I can still see… Going away for this weekend has really helped me realize that I will not wake up to encouragement, and support and amazing friends in my bedroom forever! And that is okay! God is good and this has been such a beautiful time of learning and growth so far. I am increasingly enjoying just being “still in the presence of the Lord.”
A few more highlights: going to starbucks a couple times, having bannafe cake(banana toffee, whip cream, chocolate and cake), being in London, great lecturers, trying to learn German, writing my papers(yes,
Straight hair
My roomie Sara straightened my hair the other day... thankfully it didn't rain either ;) once its over you realize how much you’ve enjoyed it!), hanging out and getting to know people, playing Super Mario Brothers and colouring Sara’s precious moment’s colouring book, ordering pizza with my roomies, prayer day, shopping, cleaning toilets(every morning now that its my new duty… and its really not so bad), sightseeing… and a bunch more that I can’t even think of!
Sorry this has been such a long update, haha just making up for a small small fraction of what I have missed. I love you!
