I've hardly had a weekend to spare this summer, but I still managed to get my Olympic fix in August between my travels.

The Beijing Games were an amazing spectacle and it was great viewing them from a British perspective - sometimes at home it feels as if Australians are the only athletes competing! (I concede Mattie Mitcham's diving was my highlight though!)

To mark the handover to London for 2012, there was a concert in The Mall outside Buckingham Palace. Instead of just watching it on TV we headed down to St James' Park where they had big screens showing the coverage. It would have been great to get into the event itself but people had won the tickets via a ballot. Was still cool to be right next to it though and to see the Red Arrows fly by.
