Is it just me? or is season 5 of the L Word camp beyond description? And I am also getting this weird feeling that the writers are gonna have Jenny and Tina get together, it's freaking me out.
Anyway... So I went to London.
Which... you know, this being a travel blog I should really actually write about travel stuff right?
So the Wednesday in London was effing beautiful... Sun was shining, a light wind was blowing, I was walking around in a thin shirt and dress pants - first day that I hadn't worn thermals for like... well it felt like a year, but I guess it was like 6 weeks. I was walking around the Tower of London and I felt naked, I kinda liked it - hehe.
I headed out of the house around 11 and wandered down to the train station - Clapham Junction is such a nice place! Really... British 😊 I don't know...
I headed into Victoria station (the real victoria station) and grabbed a tube map and went wherever the day took me. I stood eating a McFlurry outside the station looking up at the Victoria Apollo theater where
Band at Buck house
Good timing I thought I was going to see Wicked that night with Lannie and her friend. they have these Munchie McFlurries over here, which have caramel sauce in them and wafer bits... the only thing is they also have crunchie mcflurries... and workers that seem to have a problem with the Australian accent... so during my stay in London I tried like 5 times to try one of these Munchie McFlurries, and I kept getting Crunchie McFlurries - I don't even like Crunchy McFlurries... I HATE that I am one of these people that never sends stuff back.
Off track - Okay, then I walked out to Buckingham palace... I was walking along relatively quiet streets and started to feel like a was swimming upstream in a sea of Asian tourists so I figured I was heading the right way. So many tourists! when I got there I stood way back and watched the craziness - there was a band and all the guard dudes out the front - it was really cool. I liked all the friendly police people, and their horses... so many people were trying to get this perfect photo, so I decided to do a 'susan's self-shot tour
Me
at buck house of London'... and I had really bad hair that day too...
I walked back to Victoria station and caught the circle line along to Westminster, got off and grabbed some lunch at tesco express (Snickers and Redbull - first place in europe I found redbull for a decent price and it was the UK... go figure!) before walking over and chatting with the two dudes manning the shanty town in protest of the war... they've been there for nearly 4 years! Well, not them personally, but their group! Just awesome!
I walked around amongst the tourists taking nerdy self-shots 😊
then I got back on the tube and headed out to Tower Hill, bought a london shirt and went to check out the Tower bridge.
then I got word from my cousin Hilary that she was headed into town so I headed over to Paddington station to meet her!
the rest of my afternoon was spent with Hils keeping me very entertained with her stories! We sat on edgeware Rd and shared a hubbly-bubbly - I'd never done that before, it was awesome! I think ours was grape flavoured. then we headed across the road
Peace?
Protesters opposite parliament - really nice guys too. and hit Baskin robbins :D Can't ask for better than that!
It was so cool just hanging out with her, we wandered around the streets getting lost and finding groovy vintage shops with owners to annoy... This one lady was american and really cagey about her 'celebrity clients' and cringed when we touched anything :P and then the guy next door was totally cool and told us that just that morning he had had Posh spice's stylist in buying stuff (apparently she's wanting to change her look...) he was great!
I had to leave Hils eventually (begrudgingly) but it was so cool to see her... it just made me upset that I hadn't planned things a little better and been able to get out and see her Mum and Dad. Next time though Susan! I promise!
I headed back to Victoria to meet Lannie (outside the Swatch shop :P) and then we met her friend Siobhan and we went to... da da dahhhhh!! WICKED!!!!
which was so cool! Like frak! So Cool!
I love legitimate theater...
The next day I was heading back to Ulm - though not until after lunch, so I headed
Me
and Big Ben into town with Lannie and left my bag with her at her work, and then went for another adventure.
I had something cool planned, but made a pitstop along the way to try and find some friends at their work, and it was kind of a bust... and then I ran out of time and didn't get to do my thing... ah well - there is always a next time. ..
I did get to see my other cousin Christina though. She works as a personal shopper at Selfridges department store - think Harrods, only in my opinion, posher than harrods (if that's possible) like their socks cost about 15 pounds... so I'm there, in my dodgy stained coat and traveling cargos (pockets filled with various necessities) to these incredibly well dressed information people 'ah just wandering if you could tell me where the personal shopper section is?'
god I felt like a vagrant... what was worse was when one of Christina's workmates told me to wait for her in their 'lounge' god I felt uncomfortable... I heard him on the phone chatting saying that the service is free, but there is a minimum spend of 8000
Me
and Westminster Abbey pounds on clothing that goes along with it... So I sat... and wrote in my nerdy journal.. and suddenly this tiny lady appears and asks if I'm okay and how I am.
she was my cousin... she had NO idea who I was :P Of course I hadn't seen her since I was like 15, and I looked so completely different at 15... and she had no idea that I was coming to visit, so I thought... okay I'll just introduce myself... hehe
It was great though - such a spin-out!
I then totally ran out of time, piss-bolted back to Lannie near Victoria station, gave her a hug, grabbed my stuff and ran to my coach.
Feel asleep on the trip out to Stansted which was nice... and waiting in line I met a nice German lady and we sat together on the flight... which was nice. Nice to be back in Germany, back 'home' sort of. Well, my holiday home anyway.
I caught a train back to Ulm from Friedrichshafen, humming wicked songs the whole way... When I got off th train I saw Warren and Christine smiling and waiting on the platform
Me
and the Tower Bridge for me! Christine had had a big day! she had delivered her dissertation and is now unofficially a doctor! Just two more years of prac and some more exams to go :P Very exciting!!
But yeah - back home, back home for real real (not for play play) all too soon. Or not... Can't wait to see all the queers, and mum and dad and meg and cam, and peter, Ian and josh and brendan and annie... and many sarahs... and then can't wait for mardi gras so I can go see everyone down there...
and sachs and chubba, and Idg... and poo dog!! and George!!
Okay, yeah, I can and can't wait to get home 😊
