We’ve been in the UK for 5 days now and so it’s time to start the blog before I forget the places we’ve visited. We started our holiday by driving from Heathrow to Seaford immediately after disembarking from our 24-hour travel from Brisbane - thankfully our flight had been uneventful and we’d managed to sleep on the plane. Our trip to Seaford was surprisingly stress-free until 10 minutes from our destination, at which point the battery in Terry’s iPad decided to die, thus taking our GPS and map capabilities with it. Once again we are using AirBnB listings for our holiday accommodation and eventually we managed to find our accommodation for the next week – a B&B on the outskirts of Seaford. Our host is a retired printer/typographer whose daughter convinced him to take up AirBnB ... read more

Based on Bryson's description in his book, we looked forward to hiking the Seven Sisters. We headed toward the National Trust Birling Gap, to start our trek along the chalk cliffs called the Seven Sisters. We came across a Seven Sisters County Park in the South Downs NP. It was too early for the visitors center, but the park included rock pools, grasslands and the meaders...a constructed channel that was built in 1846 to divert the Cuckmere River. The walk is along the cliffs are a working farm, the Gayles Farm. Galyes has a rich history dating back to the Stone Age and serving as a airfield during WW2. Sheep and rabbits are everywhere. You see numerous locations indicating the receding of the cliffs at more than two feet a year. Belle Tout lighthouse was built ... read more

One Sunday a year a couple of churches in Reigate and Redhill get together and have church in the park. I ended up being here for that one Sunday, so I went with my friend and her family. The weather was cloudy, but it didn’t rain. It was pretty cool and there were a lot of people. Afterwards, we had a picnic at the park. We played a couple of games and chilled until it was time to go to a night service. We got to go to a church in a coffee shop and everybody gets a free drink for going. It was really cool and I loved getting a free drink that was normally 4 pounds. The next morning we had a relaxed day where we hung out and played games until a bible ... read more

Hello.... Tis cold, tis cold, tis so very cold in the UK... Just been having a very mellow xmas with family in Seaford, most pleasant... Lots of time relaxing in front of the utopian fire and all that seasonal jazz.... Very nice to catch up with family, some old mates and my dog..... Not that many seasonal arguments for once, instead more heated political chats etc that normally ended up on the topic of immigration (me thinks my family is becoming slight right of centre in terms of it's political stance...) It has been a while since my last Jordan 'blog' - has been quite a manic few weeks since then. Have had 733 reports to write (I kid thee not) and the inaugural KES Talent Show has happened. It was actually quite a success in ... read more
