This past weekend, I travelled to Peterborough for a host-family stay. It was my first train experience, and it did not start well. A few of us (IFSA-Butler students) missed the train because of a ridiculous demand for buses from UEA to Norwich city center on Friday afternoon. It was really hectic and stressful; our group got split up because of the crowd. Five people in our group were able to squeeze onto a couple of earlier buses and barely caught the train. The rest of us waited about 45 minutes, watched at least five buses pass our stop because they were already full of people, and finally caught a bus only to miss our train by three minutes. It really wouldn’t have been so bad because there was another train from Norwich to Peterborough just ... read more

So, had my first injections of Hep B and Rabies today , gotta have 2 more of each before i go then like 3-4 more (diptheria, typhoid etc) Had to go private for those 2 as the NHS is not good at doing things these days, but they are doing the rest for free, it actually turned out cheaper than the NHS and was by far better, i even got a half hour consultation. Sadly the consultation consisted of alot of "This can kill you...." and "If you forget to take this your in trouble" apparentlly im going at the worst time of year for diseases and am walking into an area thats heavily contaminated with a disease that degrades your bones to the point they snap. I really do pick great timing to go on ... read more

The next day my Dad went to work for a few hours and I went with his Spanish friend Melanie to the British museum. We saw lots and lots of Egyptian stuff including mummies and sarcophagi but the museum is really big so we only saw a little bit. After that we had pancakes with maple syrup then we got on a double decker bus to the park. I played in the park and there was a half sphere that you get in and spin around in. After that my Dad came back with the hire car and we drove to a village near Oxford called Eynsham where my Dad's friends Hughie and Fran live. Hughie is a very famous drummer. When we got there I played with their animals. They have chickens, parrots, guinea pigs ... read more

I have my ship details now! I'm on the Arcadia (P & O) & I set sail on the 21st May which is a Wednesday. Everyone is really excited for me, & looks forward to where my adventures may take me! I'm hoping to get to Southampton (where I'll be sailing from) for the Tuesday so I'm not rushing about. I've got to email a copy of my american visa & yellow fever jab certificate to my bosses at Harding Bros & they'll tell me more about my ship i.e deck privelleges etc. I'm pretty lucky too because I'm on with a training pal, Andy whose from Scotland. He joined the Arcadiaa few weeks ago so would have done a med cruise before I join. My first cruise will be around the baltic seas (Russia ... read more
