Published: February 20th 2013Europe » United Kingdom » England » Buckinghamshire » AylesburyWell we're off again! I've decided to 'blog' my way through Thailand this time. We fly at 21:00 tonight so I've got a little time to start my musings. We will land at 4:00 pm in Bangkok on Thursday and then spend 2 nights in the capital. Friday will be spent in the jungle before we fly south on Saturday to Krabi then an hours transport by boat to the resort of Pimalai. Hopefully there'll be some diving to be had and a decent Thai curry or two!... read more

Homeward Bound
Published: March 15th 2012Europe » United Kingdom » England » Buckinghamshire » AylesburySo we made it back home! A reasonable flight lasting 10 hours saw us land at Gatwick on time at 17:30. Home by 20:30 and then crash out knowing I'm up at 05:30 in the morning to travel to Chiswick - oh joy! It was a fantastic holiday with some great diving. Very relaxing at a super hotel. I've now managed to put some photo's on the blog so you can look back at the piccies too! Au Revoir till next time!... read more
All good things must end
Published: December 12th 2011Europe » United Kingdom » England » Buckinghamshire » AylesburyWell the final day was spent in glorious sunshine doing absolutely nothing! We enjoyed the previous nights meal so much that we went back to the fish restaurant again and had an equally fine repast. We also got a good look at the lunar eclipse as it passed very close to Oman. Very weird to see the moon turn red! The next morning we grabbed an hour after breakfast on the sun bed before reluctantly making our way to the airport and home. Home via the dog kennels where we picked up Ruby who then proceeded to whinge all the way home and tell me in great detail what a horrible time she'd had! Torrential rain greeted us and when we finally made it back the boiler was off and refused to re-light - oh joy! ... read more

We're off to Oman today (9:25 pm T3 Heathrow) and I've just sat down having done the following: 1. Cats to Cattery 2. Dog to kennels (after 2 walks) 3. Prescription picked up 4. Parcels posted 5. House tidied I'm knackered already! We land tomorrow morning 08:40 Oman time and then transfer to the Al Bandar hotel, Muscat... read more

Reflections
Published: October 26th 2011Europe » United Kingdom » England » Buckinghamshire » AylesburyFlight boarded on time but didn't take off until 14:00 (45 mins late). However, a good tail wind meant we made up the time and we landed at 17:16. We made it through security and collected our bags OK. I had been carrying my kilt so I handed it back to George for his flight back to Newcastle. We said our good byes. We'd spent nearly 1 month together and we'd had an absolutlely brilliant time. My thanks to George for being such a great travelling companion and for putting up with me for so long! Many thanks to Phil W for picking me up from Heathrow. He was there ready and waiting (although still in his paint spattered work clothes! I had expected a peaked cap and a message reading "Mr Guy") We made good ... read more
Packed and ready to go
Published: September 29th 2011Europe » United Kingdom » England » Buckinghamshire » AylesburyLeaving in 2 hours. I've bound to have forgotten something! Meeting George & Ross at Terminal 4 @ 4 pm then it's a ten hour flight to Seoul. 2 hours to catch flight then another 11 hours to Auckland. We land at 8:00 am. Not sure what state we'll be in but we won't be able to rest too much as it's England v Scotland that night. I dont know what I'm more nervous about, the 4 weeks away or the first match. Those of you who know me won't be surprised! I'll be the one on TV blubbing when the anthems are being played and hiding my head when play gets under way.... read more

3 Days & Counting...
Published: September 26th 2011Europe » United Kingdom » England » Buckinghamshire » AylesburyThe list is not getting any smaller! Big question is how much stuff to take for 4 weeks. It was great not to have to get up at 5:30 this morning but I've still got loads to do (including the ironing apparently)... read more
More organisation..... but now more of the waiting game!
Published: June 29th 2011Europe » United Kingdom » England » Buckinghamshire » AylesburyOk so my travel organisation skills are coming together slowly.... tonight was very constructive well all in all a constructive week! I have now devised some sort of packing list which I will share shortly. So this week has included going to the dentist - not once but twice, final visit tomorrow so bearing in mind I am petrified of dentists this is quite an achievement for me and to go on my own as well. Yes at 28 I know this is something that should be fine but I think I am also more scared that if something went wrong while I was away it would probably be a hell of a lot worse in a foreign country and more expensive too! So final visit tomorrow and then I can breath again! :) I have ... read more
