This Swiss Miss... ....lost a little bit of her heart in Switzerland. Sometimes in life we experience moments that take our breath away, and sometimes we are fortunate enough to have several of those moments in our life time, I've experience exactly this while visiting Switzerland.

When we were planning this trip, I was quietly excited to be visiting Switzerland for the first time. Like all of you I have seen pictures and postcards and most probably scenes from movies and wondered if that spectacular scenery could be real! Let me tell you it's so real I've actually touched it. I've been thinking how to describe the natural beauty of this country to you....the word most often used was 'WOW!'.... Said with such awe, and mouths agape. The grass is the greenest I've ever seen, such a bright, vibrant green and so lush it almost looks painted on. The alps are so high, your neck could get sore from looking up, and even though it's summertime there is snow on the alps. Th snow is so white it again looks painted on! There isn't a hint of beige, or slushy colour...it's perfectly purely, blindingly white, so white you can see it at night after the sun finally sets around 10pm.

We stayed in a little village called Lauterbrunnen, it's in a valley and everywhere we look it's like we are in a postcard, green fields, little villages surrounded by snow capped alps. We rode the cable car up to Schilthorn to see Piz Gloria. The James Bond movie On her Majesty's Secret Service was shot here at the 2970 metre high summit. As you can see from the photos we are wearing T-shirts even though it was 8 degrees warm, and it looks like we are standing in front of a picture....it truly is that magnificent!!

Half way down we had a beautiful picnic of cheese and salami sandwiches, chianti, Sacha torte chocolate cake (bought from Austria) and strawberries, raspberries and blueberries that taste like they should with the Swiss alps as our backdrop. We headed back down the mountain to go hiking through the waterfalls this area is renowned for. After a day we thought couldn't get any better, the waterfalls were truly magnificent. The Trümmelbach falls can only be reached by lift during summer. They are Europe's largest subterranean waterfalls and are only accessible by an

After all of our hiking we were starving and thought we should try Switzerland's national dish, fondue. Mmm, perhaps we over did it a little, cheesey fondue, another national dish of Rosti (pronounced Roe sti) and followed by our last apfel strudel. Needless to say we didn't get much sleep that night as our bellys were way too full.
Switzerland is the birth country of my friend Pino, he's never been back here after leaving as a baby. Pino you need to come here and see this most beautiful country, I loved it!
