Today was about a 22 kilometer trip, from Navarrete to Azofra. We packed our stuff, left our bag and keys to the apartment at the office, and we were on our way. We were too early for breakfast, so we just started walking. Just on the outskirts of town, we passed the cemetery, apparently a rather old one. The first town today was Ventosa, about 6 kilometers from Navarrete. At about 9am, we reached Ventosa and spotted the Cafe Bar Buen Camino. I remembered stopping here in 2017 on my Camino. We had the usual breakfast of coffee and a sweet. We continued on, passing by the Iglesia de San Saturnino. We could tell we were in La Rioja from all the grape vineyards we passed. A couple hours later we entered Najera. We decided it ... read more

September 10. Hard to believe we have been walking for 11 days. The last sign I saw said 578 to Santiago, so about 222 behind us. Today was another walk in the orchards. We both enjoyed a little bit of grapes, apricots and figs. As mentioned, I have had trouble posting pictures. Try again ... read more

On our way to Azofra which is 23.3km down the road, well path actually. Fiona headed off this morning with a vengeance arriving in Ventosa for morning tea ahead of me. Fiona leaves in the morning while I pack and pay the bill. She likes to see how long it takes for me to catch up while I try to catch her as soon as possible - yip the sun has got to us. We generally only spend about half the day if that walking together, the rest is wandering along chatting to others or walking alone. Both are great, it's nice to have time on you own as well as meeting new walkers to chat to and learn about their lives. Everyone is so open as we all have the Camino in common. We have ... read more

Started walking at about 7.30.....Very cold and windy....Feeling very tired and cold and a bit miserable. We stopped at about 10am and had some food and a coffee....felt heaps better after that...I walked all day with my raincoat on.......Normally I wouldn't be able to walk with my jacket and raincoat as I would be far to hot, but today was different, it just seemed to be extra cold. We stopped on a bench in the middle of a town and pulled out yesterdays bread cheese and meat and made a meal....Ole walked passed, so sat on the bench and ate his lunch with us....His bread didn't look like yesterdays....Oh well we are getting use to eating yesterday everything. ....He was waiting for his sister-in-law to catch up...she is a slower walker than him. He was telling ... read more

Well here we after, after a ´rest day´of doing only 13km yesterday..... The Internet in the Azofra Albergue is pretty good , but I get 40 mins for 2 Euro and there are folk hanging around behind me waiting to use, so I´m just going to type as fastas I can and FORGET punctuation, grammar, spelling errors etc..... so bear with me.... one day I will come back to all the blog entries and correct AND add pics, but I suspect that wont be until we get back to Aust..... IF I remember correctly the last entry was after a stay at 100 yr old monastery........... AFTER that day we walked to Cizor Menor.... and stayed in a really lovely private Alb. for only 10 Euro.... we shared a room with about 6/7 other women... many ... read more
