Transformation and Realisation Life. Being alive and living is movement...action! After months of effort and constant focus, all of a sudden there is that window of realisation of what has gone in the past hectic times. The realisation that my life has changed radically in the past two and a half years! Well here I am, sitting at my desk in SF, my second day back in pharmacy school, and as pleased as I am to be back in the US where the livin’ is easy and nothing seems too far out of reach..I can’t stop reminiscing about all the amazing places I’ve had the opportunity to visit in Europe and the wonderful people I met along the way. I wish I could transport myself back in time just for a moment, to feel the ease of lying on la playa in Barcelona, trying to sip down an ice cold mojito before the summer sun tries to melt it away..Ahhh, I would give anything just to go back for one more day! Hola! What a trip! We're both exhausted but had amazing times in Valencia for La Tomatina (the Tomato fight) and Ibiza for partying and relaxing. Here's what we got up to: Valencia, Spain. Home of the Valencia Orange for those of you who are thinking that rings a bell.. We did a tour with The Fanatics, along with about 1500 other people for La Tomatina. We set off pretty early in the morning from our place in Acton at around 1am, having to catch 2 night buses, then a shuttle to the airport for a 7:30am flight... 28 August 2011 1653 (Ibiza 0253 NZ) Things are pretty bad guys, im not gonna sugar coat this for yas… this is a freakin DREAM!!!!! I have just dragged myself back to our room to write this, ok so actually I really REALLY needed a minute out of the sunshine and figured that I could do something productive like write this at the same time! Holy heck Ibiza is an AMAZING place! Great start to our holiday, we actually feel like we are on holiday!!! After three long years we have finally met up with Sharon again. The main reason for her coming home was for Gary’s wedding in Poland. Before the wedding, however, we had two weeks together. Firstly we had arranged a Bar-B-Que for all of Sharon’s friends here in England to welcome her home. It was a great occasion and lovely to see her catch up with old friends and of course, Gary. Sadly, Milena could not come due to her singing commitments. The weather did it’s usual of course and kept us wondering if the rain would stop before it was time to light the Bar-B-Que! Hi Guys! This is just a little rundown on what we did in ibiza. I've tried to keep it short and sweet cause I think the pictures sum it up pretty well! So here goes: On Friday 29th July, Myself, Emma, Alesha, Jess and Lucy headed off on our 6.55pm flight to Ibiza. On arrival (around 11pm) we grabbed some burgers whilst waiting for our key to our Apartment. When we walked in we were all ecstatic to see the size of the balcony, not to mention the location on the beach and the fact that it had two bathrooms as well! 9.9.2010-14.09.2010 Ibiza-Eivissa/ Hotel Don Qujote.... not a very original but a very relaxing beach/party trip. The Hotel was o.k.! Not the cleanest hotel but if you don´t want to spend so much money it´s ok. I found it very funny how they change the towels there....the cleaning lady just smells the towel and if it smells bad she changes it...*lol*...very original!!! We visited the Bora Bora Bar in Playa d´en Bossa...it´s like spring break over there! Millions of young people drinking in bikinis at the beach! Good to get to know people. One day we went out to the "Pacha": It´s was fun, but definitly not worth the prices from (sometimes) 50-90 €. The drinks in the Pacha aren´t affordable for "normal" people...a beer is 12 € and a glass of wine is 35 €...I didn´t ... read more

So my weeks with the deck repairman and working in the engine room are now complete! Work with the deck repairman was a pleasant change. It was nice to actually have to think about what I was doing. Work on deck was mostly monotonous, but every day was different with the repairman. We had to do metal repair on one of the aluminum gangways, completed some welding on the mooring deck, serviced some watertight doors, and did lots of other odd jobs. It was like being a handy man. My week working with the engineers was by far the most interesting week I’ve had aboard. I spent most of my time in the engine control room learning as much as I could by talking with the engineers, and by reading the ships operation manuals. I learnt ... read more
