Hell
"Please allow us to introduce ourselves. We are toys of wealth and taste" We have been out of this World
No, that is not true. But when you read about the place dad took us to this summer you might think so. Well, let's tell the story from the start.
In the end of this summer dad told us he would bring us to
Hell. We thought he was joking of course. There are limits on where you can travel and since Hell is not in this World that is definitely a place you can't go to. We have known that for a long time. Hey, we may only be cuddly toys but we are not stupid. But it turned out dad wasn't joking. He did bring us to Hell. Well, he didn't actually bring us to "Hell - home of Lucifer" but to "Hell - a small village in Norway". It's true that in outside Trondheim in Norway there is a small village named
Hell. That is a crazy name for a village. Well, we like crazy stuff so a day in Hell could be interesting.
When we arrived in Hell we came to the centre of all the action in the village. That turned out to be a parking
Hotel in Hell
Hell has a hotel lot. An unusually boring parking lot too. On one side of the parking lot there was a hotel named Hell Hotel beside that there was something called Hell City. We never managed to figure out what that was.
In the other end of the parking lot there was a big shopping mall. But shopping was not on the agenda today so we took a walk to find the train station. Grandma and granddad was in Hell earlier this summer and they told us that the most famous place in Hell is the train station. Since it is famous of course we have to go there.
Jean-Claude: "We like anything that is famous."
Emma: "With the exception of any cuddly toy more famous than us..."
Jean-Claude: "Are there any cuddly toys more famous than us? We are super famous!"
Emma: "There might be one or two actually and we don't like that."
At the train station we met several other tourists. There was this nice couple from Italy who gave us a ride in their car. There was an American woman whom we talked to but never knew the name of. And there was this family that stopped for
City in Hell
Hell also has a city apparently 5 minutes and then left again. Hell seems to be a popular tourist attraction actually.
We also took a little walk up a hill behind Hell to look at a rock carving there. But it wasn't very interesting so we quickly left and went to the city Trondheim instead.
Trondheim is a nice city. It is a small cosy little town. Right near the youth hostel where we stayed (yeah, that's right! We stayed in a youth hostel. Or rather, dad stayed in a youth hostel and we had no choice but to go with him. "Dad" and "youth" are two words you don't often see in the same sentence. He says that he "likes to stay in youth hostels". Bullsh*t! He is miser and youth hostels just happen to be cheaper than anything else. Dad has no self respect at all. He is pathetic.) there was a fortress. At first we liked it. It was small nice and a bit cute. But then we noticed something that we didn't think was so cute. It was a cannon pointing in the direction of Sweden. What did they mean by that? To us it looked hostile. You don't point

...and Hell has a train station. a cannon towards someone like, it's rude. Maybe we can't really trust those Norwegians after all. Wonder what they are after? Could it be that they want to retaliate some grudges they still hold against Sweden for the
Union Sweden forced Norway to join a long time ago?
In the middle of the city there is a big church. Dad called it "cathedral" but we know a church when we see one. This was indeed a church. Dad is always trying to make us look stupid by calling things with the wrong names. But who's looking stupid now? We even know better than dad what to call things!
The church was very big and dad also says it's very old. But what we were most impressed by was all the statues on the walls of the church. There were so many. The entire front wall was actually covered with statues. There were probably more than 50 of them on the front wall alone and even more on other sides of the church. Dad especially liked the
gargoyles. It's so typical that he likes them the most because they are the statues we like the least. We think they look scary. They

It seems like God has an office in Hell...? look like demons. They actually frighten us a bit.
There are plenty of other interesting places in Trondheim other than the big church. There is a district down in the harbour with interesting houses. It seemed like the houses were actually having their front side towards the waterfront. That looks very strange to us. Is it some kind of joke or is it perhaps some strange habit they have in Norway. Perhaps the Norwegians always try to have the front side of their houses pointing towards the water. Maybe they want to please the Water God in that way. Well, we don't know but we think this is worth some deeper studies. Maybe we can take a course at the university one day that covers this funny way of building houses.
In the docklands in Trondheim we found a statue of
Leif Erikson - the discoverer of America. He was a great traveller and as such he is a big hero of ours. Leif Erikson was a Viking by the way - just like mum and dad. Vikings were feared all over Europe for several hundred years. Everybody knew that if the Vikings came you'd better hide because Vikings
Rock carvings
In Hell there is also a set of rock carvings take no prisoners. They literally take no prisoners. Vikings murder, maim, steal and then they murder some more. Well, mum and dad don't steal very often and to the best of our knowledge they have never murdered anybody. But since they are Vikings they could if they wanted to and they will if they have to.
