Pembrokeshire National Park to Fish Guard Ferry, Wales to Rosslare, to Lady's Island, Ireland The drive from St. David's to Fish Guard was not a long one, just tricky with the narrow country roads. What a wonderful surprise at the dock. We arrived early and the Stena Line Ferry Company was preparing decorations for the Fourth of July. They had flags and banners and even wore cowboy hats! We were the only Americans sitting in the ferry waiting line, and they were thrilled someone appreciated their efforts. With lots of time to kill, we took a walk up the Coastal Path to the town of Fish Guard. There is actually another town behind the hill... Lower Fish Guard. We wandered into the town and had a snack and started back down the hill to the dock ... read more

Okay, so now we’re on the ferry to Ireland - just pulling out of Fishguard, a small village perching on the side of West Wales. Wales is gorgeous - we stayed last night in Abergavenny, population 14,500 at the base of the Brecon national park. We watched the final match in the Rugby European cup - between Wales and France in a tiny pub. Wales won - the pub (the Hen and Chickens) resounded with cheers and singing - a fantastic atmosphere. Kev and Dave befriended a local - Paul the postal worker, who was a fount of information about Welsh language and other local issues. But back to the countryside - it’s green, paddocks bordered by hedges, roadsides lined with daffodils, small villages with very very narrow roads and rows of joined houses and ... read more

Tuesday 25th October, 2007 Well, you guessed it, we're home! I've just read the last blog and it seems soo long ago since we were in sunny Albufeira. We arrived back last Saturday. The trip northwards took us a week and a half and was very enjoyable. Wednesday 10th October, 2007 We packed up the campervan today and hit the road northward bound for Evora. This was quite a short trip taking just under 3 hours. It was a quiet site but the swimming pool was still open which was a bonus as the heat was incredible here. When we arrived we headed straight across the road from the camping site to a little bar which we were sure was shut, but decided to chance it anyway. It was open alright and surprise surprise, the restaurant ... read more

Hello all from green and luscious Ireland Having a lovely time touring around Ireland, Dublin was great. Visited the Trinity College and saw the Book of Kells and the Guiness storehouse - tasted a drop or two at the top of the tower with views out to Dublin city. Also enjoyed the city tour. A vibrant city. Staying at the hostel was educational - luckily sleeping after walking all day meant that the train line didn't bother us! In Wexford today stayed at a lovely B&B and on to Waterford to see the crystal being cut and to ~Cork for the night. Cork has a great 'English'market with local produce. Talking about food we have been enjoying the local bacon, Irish stew and soda bread. Had cod and chips last night - lovely. Dad if you ... read more
