Background: Celtic tribes arrived on the island between 600-150 B.C. Invasions by Norsemen that began in the late 8th century were finally ended when King Brian BORU defeated the Danes in 1014. English invasions began in the 12th century and set off more than seven centuries of Anglo-Irish struggle marked by fierce rebellions and harsh repressions. A failed 1916 Easter Monday Rebellion touched off several years of guerrilla warfare that in 1921 resulted in independence from the UK for 26 southern counties; six northern (Ulster) counties remained part of the United Kingdom. In 1948 Ireland withdrew from the British Commonwealth; it joined the European Community in 1973. Irish governments have sought the peaceful unification of Ireland and have cooperated with Britain against terrorist groups. A peace settlement for Northern Ireland, known as the Good Friday Agreement and approved in 1998, is being implemented with some difficulties.

Hey hey monkeys, So Ireland, let the good times continue..... Flew into Dublin last Wednesday....got in about 10.30pm......rushed to our hostel (thats me, Pistol Pete and the Assman)...showered, changed and were at the nightclub 2 doors up from the hostel (handy I know!!) before 12........ITS A GOOD THING!! I was hoping to stay in Dublin for another couple days to try and see the city since I was feeling better, but some golf thing had filled up all the beds (hostels included) in town. Leaving Today

Well finally leaving Ireland. A very sad day. My last night could't have been any better. Went to a polish house party. It was a huge shaker. They had a live dj with r'n'b singer/mc. Like really good music > Alot of reggae and dance/hip hop fusion. really great. And of course tons of Georgeous Polish Girls. But it was a mixed crowd. Well finished my 2 and a half week detox today and took the bus from Clonakilty up to Cork. Gonna totally miss the farm. Catching a express coach to London on Sunday night but that still leaves the weekend for a good time. To sum up the farm : Great food, great people and amazing scenery. Wow..Jenn...I don't know what to say

I swear, Jenn and I came to Cork with the best of intentions. We were going to see Blarney Castle, go to the Fota Wildlife Park, maybe take a half-day trip to Kinsale or Cobh…but for some reason we did none of it. In spite of that, we loved Cork. Pucker Up!

Today was a trip to Blarney Castle. Lost of stairs to climb up and down. For Amie there were also waves of vertigo frm the top. It was very high up and quite windy. But we still don't understand how the royal women could go up the spiral staircase and through the tiny doors in their large puffy skirts. It was my turn to kiss the Blarney Stone. Blarney Castle
good stuff

Well I did a tour of Blarney castle, Kinsale, and Charles fort last week i think. Trying to keep everything fresh in my head. THe Castle was sweet, dungeons, escape tunnels, and of course the Blarney stone. Apparently it was brougth from Isreal along ass time ago split inhalf and the other half is kept in Edinborough castle. When prince Charles turns king he will get them or something?? Pretty cool. The veiw from the Farm
Man its sweet

Well officailly at the farm. Good times. What a beauy spot. Can see the ocean and all the surroundiong area. so nice. But surfing beaches like 5 min away. Man i forgot how hard it was to surf. really serious. But so far so good. Lota of hard work. Doing alot of carpentry and what not. Living alone in a mobile home right now but alright. Nice lil town

Well As soon as I pulled into Cork I had a feeling I would love it. Right of the bat was an O'Leary BMW dealer ship. Love it. But staying at this sweet hostel Bru. Wicked pub downstairs that is open until 4am. Everythign else closes at 2am. But on Saturday ended up having to move to Shelia;'s hostel. Which was also pretty sweet mainly because if the Sauna.
