June 19 – Monday – Left the marina in Zakynthos at 5:40 as had to wait for the 5:30 AM ferry to leave the harbor. Started off with no wind, but put up our mainsail anyway hoping that later in the day the wind would show up. Fortunately, it did and we had a nice sail for a while today. We are definitely getting into an area of Greece that is full of charters. The bays are full of charter boats at anchor and the areas between the numerous islands were full of sailboats. We were concerned that we might have a hard time finding space in the anchorage we were aiming for, but fortunately just as we arrived, a sailboat left so took its spot. Well, here we are in Greece again! I cannot believe a year has passed since we last set foot on these sunny shores. We expected Spring, with a chill in the air and some showers and needing blankets at night... To our horror it has been around 30 deg almost since we arrived. Fortunately it has cooled down in the evenings and blankets have been needed - but not for long, I am sure....! We arrived in Greece on 20th April and were met by a very excited - I am happy to say - Lynne and Jerry in Messolonghi and were immediately whisked off to their mountain paradise - Panagoula (above Mitikas, on the mainland near Preveza) - where we received the red carpet treatment! We were up at 9 am today to get ready to leave Mykonos. I think we were all pretty sad to be leaving this island paradise. Breakfast was at 10 am, then we had some time to relax before the shuttle was due to pick us up at 11 am. We drove back to the ferry terminal in Mykonos town, and got ready for the two hour journey to mainland Greece. On the ferry most of us napped and relaxed; it had been a hectic three days in Mykonos and we needed some down time to recover. We arrived at 1:30 pm, where we met back up with our coach and settled in for the drive to Preveza. We stopped for services at 4 pm, and ate at Maccas (how the Aussie's say McDonald's).
