The further adventures of Ed and Michele... well they have calmed down! And we have enjoyed an amazing 10 days of Corfu and Paxos! Flying into Kepkypa (Corfu town) the capital of the island of Corfu, we picked up our rental car and drove the 30 kilometers to the west edge of the island. The island is 39 miles long by 17 miles wide with a population of @ 102,000. Initially thinking, we would quickly cover the island, but the roads meander all over the place, slow, narrow, but fortunately not much traffic. And after 6 days we only managed to discover the top half of the island. But it is gorgeous!! Every corner seems to display jaw dropping scenery of beautiful crystal clear beaches. We arrived in Liapades, shown our beautiful room and immediately asked ... read more

Can you believe we are on to our second round of visitors.... Time really flies. Before our friends arrived we had another truly splendid evening at George's. He was celebrating the arrival of his first grandchild - a little girl who is named Mavreta, after his late wife - and so put another lamb on the spit with all the trimmings.... Those of us who were there were invited to join in the festivities. And boy, was there a bunch of us...! What a time we had...the food was scrumptious and seemed to be unending. We were treated to a variety of tastes: the usual array of tzaziki, aubergine salad etc and then clam risotto, kokarestsi and of course the lamb... And naturally the liquid refreshment was flowing too.. (Especially for you, Donald...?) Once the feasting ... read more

Greece was a destination that seemed to offer sun, sea and adventure in one glorious package with stunning beauty as the backdrop. Both of my parents had separately visited the Greek Islands surrounding Mykonos some 27 years earlier – and although their stories were distinctly different, they both spoke of their own experiences with the same excited twinkle in their eyes. Following extensive research into where, when, what and why, I booked a Sail Away Flotilla for myself, my sister and two close friends. I was sketchy on the details, I am sure the sales agent provided all the information at the time of booking, and I was sent copious Yacht, Harbour, Island manuals, maps and information over the coming weeks, regardless, ... read more

Much has happened in the x number of days since my last blog.... Kevin has been up the mast of Gold of Ophir to do a bit of repair work for Dave. He had to enlist the help of Mike, Dave and John to ensure he was able to get up and down safely. But fortunately Dave's mast also has steps, which made the exercise a whole lot easier! We've also been back to Mitikas, where Lynne collected excess fish off the dock and was given sardines (from a fishing boat) for the feral cats. And the mountains where we picked fresh peas, lettuce and leeks from the garden for dinner; bought gavros from the fishmonger who drives up to the mountain village - tooting his horn to announce his arrival - from the nearby town ... read more
