The annual Bremen Music Festival was on this weekend. It is 3 days of Jazz, Swing, Rock and Roll and old people. The city streets were full of 'the older generation' enjoying live music and sipping wine and beer. We decided to stroll into town and check it out - see what all the crowds were for. So these are a few pictures from the days events, in particular the parade that came down the centre shopping strip, which was a showcase of old cars and a jamboree. And being a Sunday in Germany, usually all the shops are closed. But today, amazingly enough shop owners had brunch early and opened their doors for the crowds. So we decided to go and window shop a little and have a quick brows in some shops. It was ... read more

Sonntag 6th August, 2006. Today was the Fan Day for SV Werder Bremen - the füßball team which we have adopted while we live here in Germany. We decided to check the festivities out and the day began with a 9:30am training session, which we got up bright and early to go and see. After this, there was the official presentation of the 2006/2007 team and then players were situated at each of the sponsors stands signing autographs and taking photos. We watched the training session along with scores of other Werder faithfuls in the nice morning heat then made out way through the crowds to the sponsor stands to line up for autographs. The players were signing between the hours of 12 noon and 2 pm, and we left the training session at 10:45. We ... read more

We have been living in Bremen for just over 4 months now, and its a town we really love. Its a nice size, with a small old town feel. So we decided that since we are not really tourists around here anymore we would take photos of everyday life around Bremen instead of just the landmarks and beautiful old buildings. So I will continue to update this blog as we take more photos... The first set of photos are taken in the city centre or Markt Platz on a Saturday around midday. They are of the shopping strip and the fruit and veg market that is set up there in the morning by local traders.... read more

In Bremen there is a park that is fully run by the citizens of the town. The council or government don't have any hand in the park. It is a beautiful large park with open fields, bushland and small rivers. There is an extensive track system that covers the park and on a nice day its a lovely place to go for a walk. In the centre of the park there is a small working farm, where we believe the head of the park committee or groundkeeper lives. They have donkeys, chickens, pigs, cows, lamas, guinea pigs, birds of all sorts et cetera. Its really nice because all the enclosures have paths around them and you can look at all the animals like in a zoo. The children love it... as do I. There is also ... read more

Spring time in Bremen is just gorgeous. Not only do we have beautiful trees blossoming and gardens in full bloom, we have the windmill in town with its brightly coloured array of tulips. These are just some of the photos I took on a beautiful spring day while walking through town. The first photo - which is a personal favourite of mine - is a close up of the tulips with the windmill in the background. ... read more
