Berliners love to build-their-own kidmobiles...and ice and snow don't stop their outings...
...right around St. Pat’s Day, it hit 50 degrees Fahrenheit with a whopping 2 hours of unclouded sunlight ---
which in Berlin means the biergartens (outdoor) were bursting with customers, clinks and quatch....
the line to get into the zoo looked about at least a 30-minute wait...
hand-made gelaterias were reopening...
babies were out in prams, without the snow windshield accoutrements...

so I thought I best share some best of Berlin winter shenanigans before spring fully unfurls its easter colors.

germans certainly know how to do winter. among other things…

i am still shocked and appalled at the upright german citizen brigade's allowance of new years' litter. germans everywhere love their foreworks. and bier. and wine. and whiskey. and wurst.

massacre

streets of the most uppity neighborhoods looked like PETA had hosted a seal harpoon. red schrapnel from night-long new years' rocketing...

not sure what the rules (and surely there are rules!) of this game are, but it keeps the locals entertained in sub-zero weather

because -5 degrees Fahrenheit + 1 foot of snow is the perfect BBQ weather. any excuse to eat wurst. note: the baby prams. hearty from birth...

nary ground cover, the Berliners (yours truly included) took to the slopes in Mauerpark. sled or no sled.

as usual, germans operate on a <> premise. canal looks frozen? walk on it. ice skate. rollerblade. pull the kids (and dog) in a sled. or of course, BBQ.

free skating rink tucked onto the Marlene Dietrich Platz in downtown businessy Berlin. who, me? daily mooch on a city's free rink? i know nothing about it...
