Canal Du Midi Carmen directed us to the Europcar office at the railway station in Montpellier and told us where to go, but it was a one way street. We could see where to drive to but couldn’t get across to it. The rodent was under a fig tree. We picked some ripe figs to take back to the boat but they must have been a wild variety as they tasted awful. The animal might have been a variety of Capybara (This appears to have a tail whereas the Capybara does not), which is a South American relative of the beaver. I have read in another blog that;"It is smaller than a beaver, does not have a "paddle" tail nor does it build dams. Indeed it looks very similar to a water rat".

Win Di and Helen saw them swimming in the evenig and they made a noise like muted and strained cow's "Moooo" You can see it has a rat like tail unlike a beaver's. When Win saw it swimming in the evening he thought it was an otter as it swam up to him inquisitively.

Helen and Dinah both had a turn a driving but we really left all the driving in Win's capable hands. Rodger had done all the car driving before so we gave him a rest.

The pub was filled with dozens of pictures and models of cats

This wine would have been bought in bulk in the plastic bottle, from the local winery and decanted here in the pub.

DuMidi canal
