Berlin - Bavaria - Paris - Bastogne - Christmas Markets -- our German vacation was so full of spectacular sites, that I just would not be able to fit it all in one blog! Therefore, I will write this in sections, with each major segment of our trip having it's own post. This is segment 3: Paris! We have been planning this vacation for years! Well, sort of. My friend and old co-worker, Lisa, is ... Read Full Entry

This is in the back, east side, of the cathedral. According to the pamphlet, the Chapel of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre has original relics from the Passion of the Christ consisting a part of the original "true cross", a nail from the Passion and the original crown of thorns stored there. I'm reading this from the book---I had no idea while I was there or I would have looked for it. :/ They are presented for veneration each first Friday of the month, and on the Friday's of Lent and Good Friday.

There are small chambers, called chapels, lining the bays on the north and south of the cathedral, and running the full length. Each chapel has a stained-glass window, and then some have statues, some have huge paintings, and some have both!

The Virgin Mary Doorway is the north door on the West façade. It tells the story of the death of Mary, her ascent to Paradise, and her crowing as the Queen of Heaven.

On the North façade, this is the Cloister Doorway. It shows the human side of the Son of God-- little child in a Christmas crib and in the arms of his mother. It represents the Mercy of the Lord.

c'est merveilleux!
One of the main reasons I've always wanted to go to Paris is to put a lock on that bridge! :-) So glad you stumbled upon it. The Eiffel Tower would be the second pick! Ha ha. The architecture is amazing and that Cathedral is absolutely breathtaking! I sure hope to make it to Paris one day. So glad you were able to go, plus have some family and friends to get in touch with as well. Thanks for the tour and for sharing your beautiful pictures. :)
