It was early afternoon as our flight approached Copenhagen. We had left Rome behind a few hours earlier, and with it some sweltering weather, or so we thought. Apparently most of Europe was experiencing a heatwave, and Denmark was no exception. My brother Shawn had been to Copenhagen just last year, while my last visit was four years ago. Not too shabby considering the previous time before that had been about seventeen years. I've always loved visiting Copenhagen, and I really think this could be one of my favourite cities on this planet (from those that I've visited). I was excited to see how this visit would unfold. We touched down and then quickly exited the airport. We then took the train towards the central train station. Ronny, our uncle, has been living in Denmark twenty ... read more

Does Size Matter? Tuesday. After a good sleep, I was disappointed to find that the water was only tepid for my shower! The water heater seems to be having an off day.We were on the road by 9.30 having paid our €3 parking charge and off loaded the waste water. The motorway is still boring, but the miles are flying past and were soon at the border and cross into Germany where the motorways continue to be monotonous! We have a coffee break late morning and lunch about one and a half hours later. A German lady asked us if she could take a photo of our Dream Catcher name, she like to collect pictures of interesting stickers. She told us that she was travelling to Denmark in her more regular camper.More miles covered at a good rate ... read more

This morning we set out on the 1 day packed itinerary on our App. First up is a canal boat tour. The boat only just squeezes through and under the bridges. In fact we can't go under one bridge because the tide is too high. The tour guide is quite humorous (not as good as me but close). Even though the boat is about 50% Asian he has some beauties. Apparently the Government of China and the Danish government agreed that given the Chinese like the Little Mermaid statue so much they should have it in China for a while......but then they worked out that half the population of China was in Copenhagen anyway so they sent it back!! Boom boom. Copenhagen is beautiful with all the buildings about 4 stories high. After the canal tour ... read more

I have to apologise to my public for being a bit sporadic. It has been gruelling over the last couple of weeks, but now I make a sincere promise to update the blog daily. Today we fly from Casablanca to Copenhagen which is certainly a day of extremes. $10 for a taxi to Casablanca airport, $200 for a taxi to our hotel. $100 for dinner including wine and $2000 for dinner including wine. The day commences without a hitch. We fly Finnair to Copenhagen without an incident and very little turbulence. We arrive late at our hotel which is on the Nyham canal which is one of the prettiest. They have set up Christmas markets along the canal and I'm not sure if it's for tourists or the locals, as there are plenty of both. Finally ... read more

Okay, so Ireland didn’t win their World Cup qualifying group, but a spirited victory in Wales coupled with a string of other scores going our way resulted in the Irish team going into the play-offs. Fortune further smiled upon us in the subsequent draw, sparing Ireland a tie against Croatia or Italy and instead pitting them against Denmark. And so Friday morning I find myself at Heathrow boarding an SAS flight to Copenhagen, anticipating a weekend of cold climates, enlarged expense and no little wear in walking the miles. It takes just 15 minutes to go from Copenhagen Airport to Københavns Hovedbanegård (Copenhagen central station) by rail. I found my hotel – Best Western Hebron, down a quiet street near central station, next door to a “gentlemen’s club”, small rooms, with a bed barely an arms ... read more

We dined in the Lido again for breakfast, and I was back to having a couple of sandwiches. “You do that just to annoy me,” Sharon complained. What was really annoying Sharon was that they were out of chocolate croissants in the Lido. I went up to the Explorations Cafe to get a bottle of San Pellegrino and a chocolate croissant for Sharon. The bar refrigerator with the San Pellegrino was still locked up; but, they did have one final chocolate croissant for Sharon. I brought it back to the cabin for her. We got off the Koningsdam around 10:30AM with the plan to walk around. As we left the ship, Sharon spotted a Hop-On-Hop-Off bus, and it seemed like a good idea to go for a ride around Aarhus. There was a line, so we ... read more

Onward... We left the other guy's place and met up with a friend of Suleiman's that he had met on his last adventure out of the country. Yngwe. We were finally able to get onto the same sheet of music with Yngwe after a solid day of micommunication. So we agreed that we would meet up with him at the central station in Downtown Aarhus. We waited there for a long time and alas, Yngwe finally arrived. Yngwe was a cool kid...a stoner. I knew we would get along. So we walked around town for a little while then settled on the idea that we would go have a beer or two so we went to Flintstone's Bar. After a couple beers we caught a cab to Yngwe and his roommate Karls' apartment which happened to ... read more
