(Note:this is backdated, so this is actually written after my "I'm so sorry I haven't written entry from the actual day). Rudi and I left around 9 am this morning for Pula. It was very nice of him to drive me the ~1.5 hour journey: I had fully expected to take a bus. After a bit of confusion trying to find the Omladinski (Youth) Hostel - we only had a very basic map in my Let's Go! book, which gave directions by local bus from the bus station- he dropped me off there, and I was on my own. The Omladinski Hostel was described in my LG book as "feeling like summer camp." Which proved to be very true. (A more helpful description would have been "sauna-like dorms that smell of urine from the bathrooms next ... read more

We had three more concerts in Croatia before heading to Albania. We had a concert in a school dorm and many students came and recieved salvation. Then we had a concert in a former synagoge at a theology school in Osijek. There were many Americans attending school there. When we first arrived in the city Kaspars K, Dora and I had an interview with a local radio station to promote the concert. Our last night we had a concert in a cinema next door to a nightclub. It was crazy because during the whole concert, backstage we could hear the hiphop music pumping in through next door. I will miss Croatia. Everyone was really wonderful and the nature was incredibly beautiful!... read more

So I decided to pack my bags and head to the seaside again. It was so nice in Piran I decided to rent a car and head back towards the Adriatic. I went back and forth quite a bit between Croatia and Italy. I really wanted some great Italian pasta, but it seemed too far to travel. I drove South towards Koper making my way to towards the water. Taking a smaller coastal road around Piran I arrived at the Croatian Border and continued South. About 2 hours later I was in Pula which was more like a small city than a large town. It was too busy and not really what I was looking for, So I got back in the car and drove to the next town that looked good up the coast, Rovinj. ... read more

For our first two concerts in Croatia we were based in a city called Pula which is right on the water and has some ruins in the city as well. It is very pretty city with small cobblestone pedestrian streets. We had our first concert about 45 minutes away in a huge dance club near a resort that was along the sea. The place had a bad odor - a mixture of beer and urine and there was glass on the floor we had to sweep up before dancing. Those places are not very enticing when the lights are on!!! In the first two concerts 13 people responded to the altar call. ... read more

We went to Sunday service at the American pastor’s church before heading to Croatia. Beat stayed in Slovenia to wait on the Caravelle which was still at the mechanic. Roger, a former JR soldier who is now a missionary in Slovenia, offered to drive our team to Croatia. Roger’s car passed through the border very easily but the LT carrying all of the equipment took many hours to get through. After we all had made it across the border we met some JR soldiers who are working in Croatia and were taken to the place we will be staying for the next few days. Unfortunately we will not have a concert for four days because our first scheduled one was cancelled. We really need prayer for this to stop happening. The first day here was ... read more

Yesterday, I left my boyfriend in Ljubljana in order to travel out on this my bildungsreisen or educational travel as I consider it to be. My first stop is Pula in Istria, Croatia. I had feared to feel very alone already on the first day, but I soon found myself having received one phone number from a very helpful girl who, if I was in any troubles, had friends all over Croatia and was arranging launch parties. By getting this reception at my arrival I forgot my sorrow over the good-bye the same morning and cheerfully went to the hostel - which I found rather uninteresting. I decided to leave for the city centre, since I only had one day to see this apparently friendly city. On my way to the bus I met a ... read more
