Hey girls, thanks for all the updates on KK keep them coming!!! Bobs I assure you that everything posted on here is the entire truth and I will not be publishing any further comments you make to the contrary. You have been warned! However, you are correct in your diagnosis of Pol´s Evian withdrawals; some very strange side effects! By the way did Sharon have her baby yet? Dad; did you get a pychologist for Sam yet?? CS; apologies for publishing the picture of you assaulting my father but in fairness if he wasn´t singing Purple & Gold as you requested then he probably deserved it! Ok so to continue, after 5 hours on a mini bus and a border crossing in to Belize we arrived at the marine terminal and got a water taxi (approx ... read more

We awoke at 4.30am to the trusted and familiar alarm tune and although the trip went smoothly, various stops and delays meant it was lunch time before we were stepping off the water taxi and onto another tropical paradise, Belizes Caye Caulker. Caye Caulker is very tiny island a couple of blocks wide and sits right in the middle of the 2nd largest coral reef in the world. As Belize is probably the most expensive place in Central America and we were in no hurry, we spent a bit of time finding our accommodation which was basic but all we needed. Its not hard to guess that snorkeling , diving and fishing were on offer here through out the island and after quite a bit of thought into which company and which trip we would go ... read more

The youth hostel we stayed at in Livingston turned out to be not quite so cool as we'd thought at first after all. When we arrived, myself, Sam, Angie, Sarah and an American called Miguel who we'd met in Semuc Champay we were offered a private room which could fit 3 or 4, and 2 dormitory beds. Obviously we decided us girls could have the private room (with it's own shower woo!) and the 2 boys would sleep in the dormitory. Our room had a double bed and a hammock which Angie said she'd sleep in. In the middle of the night she got out and into the bed with me and Sarah. I was convinced the reason was because Miguel had come in and said he couldn't sleep in his bed so could he have ... read more

Quite a trek heading from Tulum to the Cayes...seems simple enough and started off on the 08.30 bus-great! Arrived at 11.30 to find there is only one bus going to Belize City at 14.45. hmmm 3 hours in chetumal...i really wouldnt recommend spending any more time here. I have developed a sligt aversion to hot, dirty towns so apologise for being completely biased throughout my writing! I just about managed to make it to Belize City with 15 minutes to spare until the last water taxi at 17.30. With the help of my friendly taxi driver, who happily relieved me of US$4 for the 2 minute ride i made it in time. At first glance Belize is a relief from the ´unfinished´ look of Mexico and to hear English is a blessing! For those of you ... read more

29/02/08 John and I intended on getting the 8.30am bus but once again my cheap alarm clock from Bangkok didn't go off. I ran to the bench outside the hostel and there was John waiting patiently. I was only two hours late...not a geat start to our journey together. John being so laid back wasn't in the least bit bothered. We got the 11.50am bus which cost $18. It was a 5hr journey but the coach was awesome. We travelled in style! John and I were the only non locals on the bus until we picked up four girls from Norway. We got talking to them when we all go dropped off at Chetumal and we decided to head straight to Belize rather than staying the night there. To be honest the girls already knew what ... read more

So the reality of the blog is that this wonderful trip is now over by about 2 weeks...but I still have 2 more posts to do! So here goes: Chill out. Relax. Chillax! The Official Mom Section of the trip began in Belize City. I arrived early to the airport with my iPod and waited for her arrival. Although a bit late, she finally came drudging out of the passenger area and bellows "You don't know the HeLL I have just been through!" Yowza! Turns out the customs guy wanted a specific location for her 1st night in Belize. Amidst all the hubbub, she could only assure this man that her son was waiting on the other side of the door with all of the appropriate information. He graciously wandered around to find me but somehow ... read more

Hello friends, This edition of the blog is going to cover quite a bit of time and locations. We tackled the Yucatan peninsula and Belize over the last 10 days or so. We have done alot! AFter our caves and volcanoes in Guatamala, Dave and I did an epic 16 hour day of bus rides to arrive in the deeply important city of Cancun. We passed through many small villages and beautiful jungles. It was hard to appreciate these bus vistas, however, as our bodies were perpetually covered in boiling sweat. Normally bus passengers pass the time by chatting to each other about their home countries and past travels. The energy required to hold these types of conversations proved to be too much for anyone on the bus. We spent the 16 hours mostly nursing our ... read more

25th February 2008 We had arranged a Boat trip for today with Ragamuffin tours. It was a full days snorkel(snurkel)/booze cruise around the coral reef just off the coast of Caye Caulker. So we all got onboard our sail boat and met Captain Charlie & Jermain the two crew men. First Job for the crew was to introduce themselves and then blare out full volume Reggae Music for our enjoyment. First of all we sailed to the Coral Gardens. This area of the reef was the closest to the island & was a very young reef & we were told this would be a good place to get used to our equipment. As becci has never Snorkled before she had a brief while I dived in to explore. Straight away I saw a number of small ... read more

24th February 2008 Today we had a chance to experience the Chicken Buses. We had the chance in Guatemala but we were told by chimi and other people it was far too risky & the fact that one person did not show for the trip, the group had enough budget for private transport. Chicken buses if you don't already know are old American School buses shipped out after their service to these counrties for the public bus transport. The reason they are named chicken buses as far as I know.... is because the locals use them to transport themselves and anything including there chickens so the buses are called Chicken buses. Anyway we left our Hotel by taxi in the morning and were dropped off at downtown San Ignacio at the bus stop. After spending 30 ... read more

Route: Mexico City - Oaxaca - San Cristobal de las Cases - Merida - Tulum After various emotional farewells across England we finally arrived in Mexico City, it had been a long time coming! Our flight was thankfully uneventful with the only thing of note being the TV system breaking down half way through the journey and with about half an hour left of Michael Clayton - I´ll assume Clooney saved the day and the bad drug company was brought to justice. We spent a few days in Mexico City mostly just wandering around visiting the various sights on the main Zocalo (apparently the third biggest square in the world). Amongst all these attractions (National Palace, Cathedral, Museum, Aztec ruins...) was the jewel in the Mexican crown - a bloke covered in Silver paint doing ... read more
