So Honduras was the next stop and as time was limited we decided to head straight for the Bay Islands; straight meaning a 4 hour bus from Rio Dulce to San Pedro Sula and then changing for a 2 hour bus to La Ceiba. Upon arrival in Flores the following morning and suffering from severe exhaustion we were again hounded by local taxi men demanding to bring us around the world!! We quickly fled to a nearby cafe for some breakfast and managed to find a bus going to El Remate, a small town about 30mins from Flores and closer to the Mayan ruins at Tikal. Ok, so we´ve really fallen behind with this so we will have to cut the crap and just get to the point!!! San Marcos was lovely, very quiet and relaxing, we went for a drink in this bar by the lake at about 4pm and then a storm came so we got stuck there for a couple of hours, needless to say we were fairly well on by the time we left and weren´t too bothered about the rain! On Sunday while still in San Pedro we decided to climb a Volcano on Sunday morning at 6am. We got out of bed at 5.30 and met the tour guide who was a Guatamalena dude with zero English and we with zero spainish other than "Olla". We headed off on our 6 hour hike. We stupidly thought it would be just a stroll in the hills but it was extreme hill walking. So we arrived in Guatemala city at 6am yesterday, absolutely shattered. We tried to get a shuttle bus from the airport to Antigua but due to lack of numbers we either had to pay more or find an alternative so refusing to pay the extra (the QS and the accountant in us!!!) we decided to make our own way to the dodgy bus station (read; dirt road lined with food stalls and chicken buses!) So we're still in London, trip postponed for a few days but we'll definitely be off on Thursday, well one of us will anyway! Unfortunately we won't have time to brush up on our Spanish in Guatemala so it's a good job that Pól is fluent!
