"Tense" Isn't the word I'd use, he was freaking poor babe!!! Couldn't wait to get back to the hotel room to hide.... Don't know about winter, but it's certainly the rainy season here - did I say rainy, more like monsoon down pours. x
Thailand in winter! Ho ho ho! Am I wrong or is Skid looking slightly, erm, 'tense' in the company of those lovely, erm, 'ladies'? He IS the one with no lippy on, isn't he? And looks terribly formal...
It all looks lovely and warm, especially the electricity supply. Bet it wasn't like that in Singapore.
Nice room, too! No trouble with mozzies, are there? Winter mozzies, that is.
Are you going native with the Thai food? I do believe it's got some chili in it, and fermented fish sauce for authenticity. If youre taste buds have been shot off already, you'll be fine!
Cheers for now, let me know where you want the winter spinach sent!
Jane
Blakang Mati Thanks for the info, did a google on it - Found out loads that I didn't know.... Hadn't realised you'd been there, must be bringing back lots of memories for you. By the way you can send the spinach to Patong Beach in Thailand x
Yeah Right!!! You found me out!! Guess the extra knife & fork gave it away.... But she only managed a quarter and a few chips, so I guess I did amazingly well. Take care xxxx
Coo er! What a fun time! I remember (yawwwn, they all say) when it was called Blackang Mati. We used to go there for picnics in the 1960's when it was jungle and gun emplacements against the Japanese invaders (our parents knew how to give us a good time!!), AND we found a rifle AND a scorpion.
Distortion of truth:-
The scorpion found us. It walked out of the rotting gun barrel on the kitchen floor hours later in our flat in Singapore. Mum didn't half scream. I still reckon it would have made a wonderful pet. Sigh.
You're missing autumn spinach here, I hope you realise! Do let me know where to send it...
cheers for now,
Jane
Amazing Videos Will be sending loads home soon. Including the one's that we didn't put on the blogs, so watch out for them... Hugs back, hope you get better soon xx
yeah right!!! oi daddy you fat bugger hee hee. You never ate that all on your own........i know mum would have most definately helped you out hee hee love you loads xxx well done
Opium Dens Didn't see any of those, more likely they have all been put to death - Cos' thats the stark warning as you enter the country, that possesion of drugs carries the death penalty... Sounds like you all need to get you're thermals on now the weather has changed.
I remember when it was all fields round here... ha! It's changed a bit since I went to school there! Can't you get trips round the opium dens now? Mum did those with Ladies' Circle, I think it was, watching all the opium addicts puffing away... It all looks very clean.
Is C K Tang department store still there??
You'll break your hearts to hear you're missing cold weather here: still got some travel spinach available, if you want...
Of course, nothing beats Hereford at this time of year [she muttered through gritted teeth] and who needs a nice bit of heat [she sobbed] at this time of the year? The first fireworks have started!
Greetings from all at Oxfam!
Jane
Looks Familiar Glad we brought back a few memories for you. We managed 25 hours, but weren't jet lagged. So once we found somewhere else to stay, we were able to enjoy our time there. Hope all's well x
To all at Oxfam Hope we are keeping you all amused with our antics and are not missing me too much. Pleased to hear from you again Jane, thought you'd gone on one of your many cruises and decided not to come back! And yes the place was clean, only saw one tiny cockroach and an empty Guiness bottle!!
Looks familiar Ron you standing by Kowloon harbour reminds us of us standing there 11years ago, We stayed in Kowloon too but in a Hotel. had Jet lag so didn't see a lot we were only there for 24hrs
How very Biblical! No room at the inn, eh??
The hostel looks lovely! So what have people got against pimps and whores, then? [blank look, must get out more. Or not.]
We're about to have a frost tonight, so you're in the right place at the mo.
It all looks terribly clean... is that right? And how are you doing for travel spinach??
Don't use your left hand for chopsticks: I did when I was there 100 years ago, and was corrected during a meal several times, by the old lady serving the food - it meant I was a whore! [for those reading this, NO I WAS N O T.... never had to pay for it in me life...]
Now, ahem, [waits for face to stop glowing] don't drink the water, don't eat the food, and keep yer hands on yer wallets!
Oh, and it bucketed down yesterday, so you deffo ARE in the right place!
Cheers and greetings from all at Oxfam,
Jane

"SPENDING THE KIDS INHERITANCE"
Well thats what the kids accuse us of - so, (Skid & Skim) ski/daddy and ski/mummy are doing just that.....
2 Brits off around the world on August 19th 2007 and don't they just hate us for it!!!!
No! - They think it's great that a couple of oldies have got the guts to go backpacking for 12 months.
We are no strangers to travelling and have already experienced white water rafting in Colorado, "Skim" has also been brave enough to do a bungee jump.
OK we are in our 50s, but it doesn't mean we are going to sit back and wait to die.
