Time passes too quickly We have great sadness for your loss. What an amazing tribute. Thank you for posting her poem... how lovely. When the time is right we hope you will continue traveling, writing and living life as she would have wanted it that way. A lifetime is not long enough to be singing the same song.
Dear Ron, I'm so sad to hear of Avril's passing. I remember reading your blogs as you crossed the western US...I live in Colorado...and then your announcement of the cancer which would take her life. I didn't know what to say then, but your poem says it best "They know when you need them to come around." I'm sorry I didn't come around sooner. Thank you for sharing all your travels, and then your most personal grief. Avril must have been quite a fighter...and she had the right attitude. I pray that you and your family and friends will find peace.
An example to us all So sorry to hear this news, I often wondered how Avril was doing. She has been a wonderful example to us all to make the most of our time. Thinking of you both.
Fort Phil Kearney Massacre I read the book- My army life and the Fort Phil Kearney Massacre by Frances C. Carrington a Diary of her military life on the plains. John Phillips name was mentioned a few times and his act of heroism in saving the lives of those at the Fort. Happy Memories So happy to see you out and about again. My family has always said that it is ALWAYS about the happy memories, no matter what the future may hold. Looks like everyone is participating in the memory making!! Nothing like a good pillow fight to bring on the laughs.
Be well-- look forward to seeing more soon.-- M
hey Glad to find you back here. Building happy memories should be everyone's pastime. And I admit, old hags like me still enjoy Disneyland, more so if visiting with family.
Cheers!
Glad to see you out and about! Well, really... trotting off again. Great to see you here and read all your comments.
Need any travel spinach, just let me know.
"SPENDING THE KIDS INHERITANCE"
Well thats what the kids accuse us of - so, (Skid & Skim) ski/daddy and ski/mummy are doing just that.....
2 Brits off around the world on August 19th 2007 and don't they just hate us for it!!!!
No! - They think it's great that a couple of oldies have got the guts to go backpacking for 12 months.
We are no strangers to travelling and have already experienced white water rafting in Colorado, "Skim" has also been brave enough to do a bungee jump.
OK we are in our 50s, but it doesn't mean we are going to sit back and wait to die.
