30/04/09 Tuesday Day 256 Last week in Sydney It’s been a long time since the last blog update and a lot has happened since. After getting the apartment sorted it was time to look for some class of a job to pay for some of this adventure. Long story short, I didn’t get a job. Emer got a job in child care on a casual basis, which was a bit of a pain because she had to be up every morning at 7am in case the agency would ring with a position in a child care centre somewhere in Sydney. I [View Full Entry]

11/11/08 Tuesday Day 89 Michael dropped us to the airport where we were flying to Sydney today. At last we’re here. I’ve been almost 3 months of constant travelling and finally we can settle down for a few months. Well first we have to find a place to live and a job to pay for that place so it’s not all relaxation yet! After checking into the hotel we headed into the city via George Street to first get a bit to eat and then to look for a letting agency. We actually didn’t come across any letting agencies in the [View Full Entry]

6/11/08 Thursday Day 84 Melbourne We had a lie in this morning. Got up at half 7. A little bit better than the 4am starts the last 2 mornings. Alice Springs airport is pretty small. Landed in Melbourne anyway and got picked up my Emer’s cousin Michael Foley around 5pm. We reckon with all our working out that he’s her 4th cousin. After landing at his house we dropped the bags and spent the night talking and drinking about Melbourne and home. 7/11/08 Friday Day 85 Awful weather today. Rain and cold. Michael took us for a spin around most the [View Full Entry]

3/11/08 Monday Day 81 After checking out we headed to the bank first to collect our atm cards. Then we hopped on a bus to the airport to get our flight to Alice Springs. We have a tour booked for the next two days to visit the red centre, i.e Kings Canyon, Ayres Rock, etc. The weather here then is savage warm compared to Perth. After getting to our hostel we headed into town to grab something to eat. Small enough place. They have a problem alright with some drunk aborigines around the place. They’re quiet intimidating actually because they’re all [View Full Entry]

2/11/08 Sunday Day 80 After checking into our hotel around half 11 we had to then drop the van back to the rental company. A sad moment indeed but we’ll be booking it again some time next year. Luckily the red bull air race was on in Perth. It was the final round of the championship. I have no idea who’s leading it. It was pretty cool though. There was a massive crowd watching it. We didn’t stay there long at all because the planes did pretty much the same thing each time. Once you saw one you saw them all. [View Full Entry]

01/11/08 Saturday Day 79 Fremantle Prison The reason we’re back here is that we didn’t get to see the Fremantle Prison the last time. This time we did see it and it’s a great tour and attraction. Plus some of the Irish Fenians were sent here during the 1890’s. Some of them even escaped. The tour shows you most of the prison, including solitary confinement, the kitchen, the cells, and even the gallows where 44 people met their fate. Our tour guide was very good and had loads of extra knowledge about the place too. There’s also a night tour you [View Full Entry]

Pemberton Oceania » Australia » Western Australia » Pemberton
30/10/08 Thursday Day 77 Today we decided to head to Pemberton which is about 130 kilometres from Augusta. It apparently has lots of forest kinda things to do. The town itself is pretty big. Again it’s just one main street but it seems a lot busier that all the others. We didn’t bother booking a space at the one and only caravan park but luckily there was a space for us. We found out that it was the one and only caravan park from the tourist information centre. We then headed to the Lavender & Berry farm. This is supposedly to [View Full Entry]

31/10/08 Friday Day 78 Another cool little place to visit. There’s a jetty here that is the longest wooden jetty and oldest in the southern hemisphere and the second longest in the world. The longest is in South End in England. It’s a long walk to the end. And at the end is an underwater observatory. This shows all the fish and cultures that live on the pillars of the jetty underwater. The weather at last too has picked up and it’s now sunny and hot although there’s still a cool breeze hanging around. We did come here at a good [View Full Entry]

Augusta Oceania » Australia » Western Australia » Augusta
29/10/08 Wednesday Day 76 The weather is worse than yesterday. Even more rain and wind and even the odd bit of thunder. So we packed up our stuff and headed further south towards Augusta. We stopped first at the Mammoth Caves. This was a great attraction and huge too. Plus you get a set of headphones that gives you some audio as you walk through the cave. Next on the agenda was Hamlon Bay which was on one of the maps we have. All that is in this place is a dead end. It has a caravan park and a beach. [View Full Entry]

26/10/08 Sunday Day 73 Just after we leaving we forgot to bring our little fold out table so we headed back. Then we were thinking that we hadn’t seen that table since we were in Bunbury. We checked the site. Nothing. Then we asked reception if they picked it up and your wan behind the counter says “Oh someone’s probably lifted it lovey into their own caravan. Sorry about that but we can’t control if people take stuff”. Lovely attitude. We didn’t like that table anyway. We only used it once anyway! Today we’re headed to Margaret River. This is where [View Full Entry]
