08/09/08 Monday Day 25 Our train arrives into Hue at 10.45am as displayed. Yet another ambush. Even more that the bus the night before were waiting right outside the gate before we handed our tickets to the woman. I’ve a pain in my neck from shaking it like no was going out of fashion. Bought our train tickets for Da Nang which saves us a trip to the station tomorrow for another potential ambushing. Got shown where the ticket was by about 5 different people. 04/09/08 Thursday Day 21 Bad Karma 2 Yet another day of bad karma. This will be a long one so have patience! Went the sleep around 10pm last night because we had to get up at 4.30 to be in time for our train at 6am to Hai Phong where we were to get the 9am high speed boat to Cat Ba Island and then have a nice relaxing day wandering around the town and hit the beach. 01/09/08 Monday Day 18 Bad Karma Got breakfast, packed the bags again and did some haggling with one of the taxi drivers to get us a good price to the airport. Got to airport no problem, checked in no problem, got through immigration, passport control and security no problem. Opened the laptop and searched for free wifi. Success. Free wifi. We had about an hour or so to burn so surfing the net is as good as any! Decided to go for my glasses to see things better. No glasses. Well F that anyway. Left them at the guesthouse. 30/08/08 Saturday Day 16 Ode to the straight road What a day. Where to start really! Got up at half 6 this morning because we wanted to leave the guesthouse at 7 to be at the bus station in time to check in and maybe get something to eat. The bus was at 8am. Out guesthouse lady had organised a tuk tuk for us and in fairness he was there in time. 28/08/08 Thursday Day 14 Goodbye Thailand, Hello Laos Not much happened today either. Got up, had breakfast, packed the bags and went off to the airport around half 11.Our flight wasn’t until 3.05pm but there was no point in walking around Chiang Mai with the back packs. We’d be like sitting ducks with everyone shouting “Taxi Sir” or “Tuk Tuk Sir”. Chiang Mai airport is nice alright. The international terminal isn’t very big at all. 24/08/08 Sunday Day 10 Pavee Point The reason for the heading is the amount of travelling done today! Not much of an update today. After breakfast this morning we dropped the moped back down to the owners and then posted some postcards. I think I’ll believe if they get delivered when they get home! After that we packed the bags and got a taxi from the hostel down to the bus station. We got a bit to each there in a shopping plaza beside the bus station. 21/08/08 Thursday Day 7 Tayto day, Kanchanaburi and it’s backwardness Not a very much eventful day at all today. Packed up the bags to leave Bangkok and head to Kanchanaburi. Got a taxi from the hotel to the south bus station and of course your man ripped us off. The bus journey was grand. Met another couple from the states travelling around. 15/08/08 Friday Day 1 Toodles Toodles to cork airport and Ireland. Thanks to Denis for dropping us to cork airport. We’re now in heathrow waiting to board out flight to Bangkok, Few things happened today. Crazy hen party going to Liverpool were all late. They were all wearing sailors hats. Tools the lot of them! Two got thrown off the plane too.. They’re probably still drinking in cork airport. Eimear reckons they were tough ladies or else very drunk when they boarded!
