Thanks to those who corrected me with the Yankee Staidum not Dodger! I think I refered to it as both names throughput the blog! Also a big happy 3rd birthday to our girls - Chelsea and Tiggy back home Started off the day with a tour of the NBC studios at 8.45. The people on the tour were all Americans are were ‘super’ excited about the sets and stuff. We had no idea what they were talking about of the names they mentioned. Didn’t get to read the weather  It’s a public holiday over here - Martin Luther King day so not every thing is open or everyone is at work and in this case the guy that shows you how to do the weather. We got tickets to a late night show ‘Jimmy falon’ ... read more

Again another early one with little sleep. Breakfast on the go again and onto the sub to catch the train to Bronx Zoo. 40 mins later we were there. There was no one there! Many of the attractions over here have little if any line. We have noticed that the weekends are busier though. We have had great weather so far- better than expected. Only really need a jumper and jacket. We have been alternating the beanies, scarfs and jackets on and off. Today was very much a all systems go day with everything we bought on! It was freezing. The zoo was good, a typical big zoo walking around looking at the animals. It was good to see a polar bear again which was actually awake and walking round. Disspaointing the big brown bear was ... read more

Got lots on our list done today. Cause we got stuck shopping yesterday we didnt have time for Statue of Liberty so that was the first thing on the to do list today. Got up early and had breakfast on the run and went down to the subway. Caught the train down to battery park to catch the ferry to statue of liberty. Walking through battery park were heaps of squirrels. Some random man called me over to feed them, so I sat down and he gave me some nuts and they came running from everywhere. So cute, gave the guy a $1. After going through about 500 security checks we got on the boat and onto the island. After checking the bag in and after one more security check (with air pumped on us) we ... read more

Ok bit of a late start today. As they have scones over here to go with your sausage and eggs I decided to have them with jam which was nice. So had our hot choclates and headed down to the Empire State building. Walked straight in and up the lifts in no time. There were so many barriers for the massive lines they must get here. So yes it was very nice looking at the views from the top and recognizing some of the places we had been. So as we have a 3 day bus hopon/hopoff we jumped on the downtown one again. I like listening to the guide and learning about what things are, who lives there or the history of a place. Got off in Soho and was caught up a little bit ... read more

Today we did the uptown tour. We walked into Times Square and jumped on the hop on/ hop off bus. This was around the Central Park end of town. So we went along the upper west side and thru harlem. We got off just before it ended at Central Park and went to the zoo there. It was a nice little zoo with some animals we had never seen or heard of before which was cool. The polar bears were cool. Then into the kids zoo where we took some crazy photos. We then decided to hire a tandum bike to ride around the park and visit some of the surrounding attractions which were included in our New York pass. So we rode down to Boat House which is a lovely restuarant looking over Manhatten and ... read more

Got up at about 8am and headed down for the included breakfast which was crap! Dont like the american way with melted orange cheese in the eggs and sickly sweet muffins and buns. Not happy there isnt any hot choclate either! So after winging about breakfast we layered up and headed into Times Square. After convincing Benn we were in Times Scare we found Planet Hollywood and picked up our New York pass and hop on/hop off bus pass. We have the bus pass for 3 days and the NY pass (entry into 50 attractions) for a week. So we jumped on the bus and straight up the top (its covered) and we were the only ones. We were then joined by a couple more and we were off on a downtown tour. As we went ... read more

Okay here we go. Flight was at lunch so instead of rushing round in the early hours of the morning, we got up usual time and were able to relax (we did go to bed 3am the night before making sure we had done everything before we left and of course packed!). Dad drove us out to the airport without Chels :(. Took ages to initally check in but went through customs quickly. On the flight we watched alot of movies. I watched I love Beth Cooper, Adam, MJ This is it, 500 days of Summer, Maos Last Dancer and something else. So whenever I felt my eyes closing I pushed pause and nodded off. Then all of a sudden it was breakfast but was only like 7pm our time so that was weird. Arrived in ... read more

North America » United States » Hawaii » Maui January 13th 2007

Still at Maui, so woke up and got off the ship and jumped in our car. This time we headed west. Along the way stopped at lookouts or beaches. Arrived at our destination Lahiana which was a busy town with lots of shopping and restaurants. So had a look around the area. We had originally booked to do surfing lessons here but it was so flat it wouldn’t be worth it. We will try again in Honolulu where we will be in the next few days. So just headed to the beach and went for a swim and sat around. Nice cruisy day. Then walked back up the car and drove back to the pier. Stopped a big shopping center and had a look around. Gave the car back and jumped back on the ship. Had ... read more

Arrived in Maui which was even hotter than the last island. We decided to hire a car as we were to be at this island for 2 days. So we hired a car and headed down the Hana Highway which was to the east side of the island. The drive was similar to the great ocean rd drive with all the scenery and lookouts. So we drove past a sign saying twin falls. So we got out and started to walk to these falls. About 45 mins lata and after climbing through rainforests, over rivers and in the mud we finally found a waterfall. There were no signs saying how far to where to go so we had no idea if we were going the right way. So headed back to the car and kept driving. ... read more

North America » United States » Hawaii » Big Island » Kailua-Kona January 11th 2007

Today we ported at Kona, which is the other side of the island we were on yesterday. It was actually the warmest day of the islands we have been to yet. Got up normal time and had our usual buffet lunch. Got off the ship and finally had a look at the shops here. Went to Wal Mart which is like a big Kmart and Coles combined. Then went to Hilo Hattie which is like where you buy all the authentic Hawaiian wear. So you wouldn’t go to Hawaii and not buy a Hawaiian shirt. So we bought one each! Then headed back to the pier which had a beach next to it, so just chilled on the beach for a bit. At 12.30 we had a raft and snorkel cruise booked. So we got on ... read more
