Welcome to my online account of my trip to Ireland! It's my first excursion across the pond and hopefully I'll last out the entire year. I'm going to work and travel the rest of Europe and just really have the time of my life! I'm so excited to start my new life....and who knows, maybe I won't come back! Sorry Mom and Dad, it's a definite possibility.

Europe » France » Île-de-France » Paris October 23rd 2011

Why hello everyone! I realize it has been quite some time since I have entered something on this blogosphere; but with seeing Paris, the West of Ireland, etc etc (sorry, I don't mean to make you jealous!) there just hasn't been time! I do have some delectable pictures to show however, so trust me; it's worth the wait. Since returning from Greece, my life has been all up in turmoil as usual. The contract for my job entered this phase of endlessness, although fortunately I officially finish the job on the 28th, hurray! So now I can move on to bigger and better things. Such as a 14-day tour around Eastern Europe! Amsterdam, Prague Berlin, Vienna, Venice, Rome...the list goes on, but the anticipation is killing me! Not to mention the worst head-cold in history, so ... read more

Europe » Greece » Crete » Elounta September 25th 2011

Hi there everyone, it is time for a Sarah update! I know it's been quite a while since my last blog but I have people to see, places to go! Well, sort of, but enough excuses; I have a lot of adventures to talk about. So first off, my family trip to Greece was spectacular and I am devastated that it was over so quickly. Spending 10 glorious days in the sun was such a blessing after such a horrible cold and rainy summer in Ireland, plus seeing my family after 6 months of being away didn't hurt either. We spent one and a half days in Athens and then the rest of the time on the lovely island of Crete. I have to say, while I definitely would not pick Greece as my home, it ... read more

Hello everyone!! I've been neglectful in my blogging duties and I apologize tremendously!! But with dashing off to London for a birthday weekend, working and my actual birthday, life has been hectic as always! So today I'm officially 23 and I'm not sure if I'm really feeling any older or wiser. I'm certainly wiser than I was when I first arrived in Ireland and I'm a lot farther along in deciding on my future, but I think I still have a ways to go. I also can't believe that I've already been in Ireland for over 4 months! The time is positively flying and I'm dreading that so much. I may have something up my sleeve that will prolong my stay in Ireland (sorry to break the news!) but until I know for sure I'm keeping ... read more

Europe » Ireland » County Sligo » Mullaghmore June 25th 2011

Well, another week gone and it's officially (as of 3 days ago) my third month anniversary of living in Ireland! I think I may bake a cake tomorrow to celebrate.....I can't believe that the time has been going by so fast and although I still have plenty of time, I'm starting to hit something similar to a "mid-trip" crisis. I'm frantic to go see and do as much as I can, but seeing as I sprained my ankle this week (more on that later!) I clearly need to slow it down a bit. I somehow got the notion that time was running out and I needed to do more, see more and this is the result. Never fear, my ankle is already starting to look slightly better and I'm taking it easy; resting, icing and pretty ... read more

Hey there folks! Today I'm looking out the beautiful windows of my flat and what do I see? Rain. Now, I was told that this is normal; to expect damp, cold, rainy weather as an everyday occurrence and that summer is a fleeting moment. Despite this knowledge, my eternal optimism could not be dampened (baha please pardon the pun!) and each day I rise to the new hope that I will see some form of the sun, or at least dry ground and enough warmth to not require a coat. Well today....these hopes have been squashed. I have finally come to grips with the fact that I'm living on an island renowned for it's unpredictable rainy weather and that this is how it's going to be. Rather than be depressed, I'm actually slightly relieved because now ... read more

Europe » Ireland » County Galway » Galway May 22nd 2011

Hey everyone, here is this week's blog which I know you have been anticipating so eagerly! Haha ok so I'm hyping myself up a bit, but I definitely had a pretty cool weekend. I've been working a lot during the week and now that I'm full-time I'm so tired that I hardly do anything exciting during the week, borringgg. I am definitely making up for it on the weekends however and trying to cram as much sight-seeing as possible into two days. I seriously need a vacation from my vacations! So this week Colleen and I decided to do an awesome tour of Galway and the surrounding countryside and it definitely turned into an epic adventure! The forecast all week was looming with pouring rain and horrible weather, but we decided to persevere and take a ... read more

Europe » Ireland » County Cork » Cork May 15th 2011

Hey everyone, I'm back with more adventures and get prepared for the pictures 'cause they are amazing! I've done some really exciting travelling in the past two weeks, hence why I haven't really been keeping up with this blog as well as I should, but I promise to try my best! I've also been very busy with work since I finally have a semi-permanent full-time job and I'm fairly knackered by the end of the day to be honest. Yes I know I just used that Irish word; I don't have a goofy accent yet, but the slang is pervasive and slowly creeping into my speech haha. I also work with a very large group of young Irish people so I'm definitely picking up the lingo faster now, my personal favourites are "that's/you're grand", "deadly", "just ... read more

Good morning to everyone, I hope you all had a fantastic Easter! I definitely missed you all, but I had a pretty neat weekend; my first real trip in Ireland! Me and a few friends decided to go up to Northern Ireland, which is part of the UK and do a tour around some of the cities. It was definitely filled with a lot of excitement (which I’ll get into later) and some of the things we got to see were breathtaking. You can genuinely see why people are so fascinated with Ireland and why the country is so steeped in mystery and legend. Its coastline and country are some of the most beautiful places I have ever travelled to in the world and I think I am absolutely falling in love with Ireland! The city ... read more

Hi Everyone! I know this was a long time coming and I'm sorry :( I caught some sort of bug after my weekend adventure and I've been just trying to keep going in order to make it to work every day. So my work term ends next week and I'm actually kind of sad! It's such a nice place to work and I'm really starting to get along with my bosses and whatnot; but alas I believe this is the way of temping. You get attached to a place and then before you know it, you're moving on. However (not to get my hopes up or anything!) but I may be interviewing for a 6 month contract position at this big multinational firm and I'm super excited! I'm not sure how many people are vying for ... read more

Hi everyone! I'm sorry I haven't been particularly diligent this week with writing this blog, but work has been keeping me really busy! I've officially ended my first week in my new apartment and it is seriously great. I can walk pretty much anywhere in Dublin from the location and it really does have some neat views. Of course I posted pictures, but please...hold the comments on the mess haha, there's three of us living here and we cleaned the day after. Promise. So my job has been panning out really well and I'm enjoying temping more than I expected. I'm working for AIB Investment Managers and basically I'm assisting with the printing and preparation of their end of quarter financial reports. It's a really excellent place to work; the people are friendly, the office is ... read more
