So, now we have spent a couple of weeks here in Trujillo. And yes it has been very quiet in on the Blog, have had to much things to adjust to over here! Well, as I said in the last entry, was that I live with a woman called Doris. In my house there was two other girls (from USA) who was sharing a room, but one of them (Andrea) left this morning to go back home. What's nice though is that we have a new girl here now (also from the states) which is sharing my room. Chris has his own room out in the garden of his family's house, and his own bathroom. It's a nice place. His house is much bigger than our apartment, and they have a really ugly rooster (tupp), which ... read more

The lady of my house is Doris. I don't know how old she is, but she has a son who is 36 and a son who is 26. In the apartment there is three bedrooms, one for two volunteers from USA who arrived a week before me, one room for me and then one for Doris and her son Lino. The apartment is of course very different from anything at home, and there is not even a fridge, but it's homie and the area where it is seems fine. And the best of all, it's actually just by the neighbourhood where Chris is gonna live! Well, going back a bit in time.. to tell you about Colca Canyon and if I have time, Nazca Lines: We arrived in Arequipa (the biggest city close to Colca ... read more

Now we are here, at the end of the trip. Or at least where we are gonna spend our last weeks in South America. We arrived to Trujillo this morning and we have been able to look around the city a bit, and it's loud but quite pretty with it's old colonial houses. Chris has already been away to meet the family his gonna stay with for the next 10 weeks. So this is what I'm doing when he's away socialising! :-) I'm gonna get picked up tomorrow by the Son of the family that I'm gonna stay with, at 6 o' clock though, because it's Mother's Day here tomorrow so everyone is very busy.. and then I start at the orphanage on Monday, and Chris starts his school, he's actually gonna live in the ... read more

Finally we have visited the old Inca town of Machu Picchu. After a trek (not the 4 day one though) of 5-6 hours we got to this wonderful place, and it was truly magic. Huge ruins in the middle of a valley with enormous mountains around it... beautiful! But before we talk about Machu Picchu we still have to mention our trip to Mendoza in Argentina. We went there after Bariloche, and we ended up on the same bus as Sean (the guy with whom we rented a car and went to El tronodor) who was going back to Mendoza where his wife's family live. This was on the Sunday and he invited us for a lunch barbeque the same day. Me and Chris arrived at our hostel quite early that day and it turned ... read more

So now we have left our wonderful Argentina and arrived in Lima, Peru. So far it's very different, both the weather, the people and the food. We are staying in Miraflores which is one of the nicer suburbs of Lima, and it is actually really nice! It's just on the coast but on a big cliff, so you can watch the ocean from above, which is very pretty - when you can see it. Many times, especially during the day it's to much smog or fog to be able to see the ocean or even the cars driving next to it on the bottom of the cliff. Sometimes you can't even see the top of the high buildings around here. The guy who ownes the hostel we are staying in, says it's pollution from the ... read more

So, time for another little update! I am a bit after with my writings, but it's much more fun doing stuff than writing about them! But it's nice to let all you guys know what we are up to, and see some pictures.. and its nice for reading it myself later too! So, know we are actually in Bariloche in the South of Argentina, and it's beautiful! But COLD. Or, well, at least 13 degrees, which for us is very cold, because until now we've had at least over 20 everyday! But, I haven't gotten so far that I can actually write about Bariloche yet, cause I still haven't written anything about Uruguay and Buenos Aires!!! So... URUGUAY The crossing over to Uruguay was something special. We went on another night bus, and this one wasn't ... read more

So, maybe time for a little update? I know it's been a while since the last time, but lets just say that we did other stuff than hanging around computers? ;-) Well, we've had time to visit some amazing places with the GAP tour that we have been on, and it has been great! Today is our last day, so we are checking in to a hostel and are leaving the group. After Ilha Grande, we went to a really nice place called Paraty, which was a pretty place with old colonial houses. It´s an UNESCO marked city, so the old town is saved from all kinds of changes, even the roads are just mudd and some stones to walk on (supposed to be cubblestone but its more like one stone here and one stone ... read more

Now we have been in Brazil for almost a week and its great!! Rio was such a wonderful city and I didnt feel unsafe at all. But then I didnt bring anything more than what I was planning on using that moment either. We stayed in Ipanema which is one of the nicer beaches in Rio. Much nicer than Copacabana, which does feel a bit dodgy at some points. Our hostel was really cute and just a road in from the beach, but we didnt go a lot to the beach anyway cause it so many things that we wanted to to while in Rio! We went to see the Christ Redeemer (kristus statyn) and it was cool, the view over the city was probably cooler than the statue though! It was of course very touristy ... read more

Finally have we arrived at the beautiful city of Rio De Janeiro! We´ve had so many troubles on our way here, with planes being cancelled, missing check in, stressing on and about... that it has been a crazy day. So finally getting here is such a relief! When we arrived at the airport in Rio, we were sure that the airport transfer that we´d orderd wouldn´t be there, since we hadn´t given them a new arrival time after our last was cancelled.. but luckily they stood there waiting for us anyway! Cause they just gessed that we would be there a day later but with the same flight! So I´m happy we chose the Rio transfer. Our hostel is nice, we´ve got a little room with bathroom next to the garden, it is very small but ... read more

Ok. /Rosanna å Chris... read more
