Umm yes i did get it but only after climbing to 5300 m to the edge of a glacier on one of ecuadors most famous volcanos. Was it worth it yes, it was a spectacular walk in some of the most amaising scenery. We decided to take the option to mountain bike down whihc would have been fine had i not had the worst had ache ever i felkt ever bump hole stone piece of dust on that ride which was a real shame beause it took away some of the enjoymeny of being it that area. Cotopaxi was beautiful and [View Full Entry]

WEll it is the actual ecuator. lots of info about the place just not enough time if there is any info you want drop me a message. But we got to see water going down the plug hole in different directions north and south of the equator and not spinning at all on the equator quite surreal. We also balanced an egg on a nail and found out that walking ALONG THE EQUATOR WAS VERY DIFFICULT ALL TO DO WITH THE WAY GRAVITY IS ACTING. whoops caps lock error. We also got to see a real shrunken head!!!! [View Full Entry]

Can you guess where the Mitad del Mundo is? Ok we headed south straight to quito where debbie and myself met up with a friend claire who works in an international school. We were lucky enough to have her spare room and the full use odçf cable tv washiong machine hot shower!!! Prior to our stay a class teacher form Y5 left unexpectedly so we said we would cover for a week as we had time. It was a great experience working with Ecuadorian children in their own country. Even though it was an english speaking school. Spanish is there first [View Full Entry]

A great place. A place where a coffee lasted us 3 1/2 hours!!! we were made to fell so welcome. Here we stayed in an old plantation house and it was callled so. Well after day in the national park tayrona we decided to leave on a high so we set of the following day, well evening on the overnight bus to Medellin. Now this city is notorious with the problems Colombia USED to have. There is such an air about Colombia which is over shadowing the true nature of the country. Id say i have felt more comfortable walking about here than i did in Costa rica and Panama. Over travellers we have spoken to have said the same about venezuala!!! Its time people really opened their eyes to what is here and [View Full Entry]

From Cartagena we made our way to the north east to a town called Santa Marta that everyone raved about. Unfortunatly our hopes were dashed when we arrived and it was quite a contrast to Cartagena. Not what we expected. After two days and spending time in town and the local bay the guide books suggest you go to, Taganga (dont bother bocas del toro in Panama is much better and as for the next beach, it was chaotic everyone vieing for your business we spent 5 minutes there before leaving). We had a lovely meal on the front in Taganga [View Full Entry]

Well we made it to Colombia via a very small aeroplane which had propellors and was smaller than a local coach!!! First stop Cartagena, i was so glad to get out of Panama City it was not a nice place, lots to see out of the city though. Cartagena is even more beautiful than the guide books say. There is such a calm air around the place similar to that of florence in Italy. The architecture is out of this world, preserved colonia buildings along side fortifications built by the spaniards to protect their new land!!! We stayed only two nights [View Full Entry]

Here we are in Panama city with some new experiences and adventure behind us once again. We managed our 4 hour trek through what was described as one of the most scenic treks in central america. It was a beautiful area but not being too negative there was no wildlife at all. Not really what i expected. I least expected to see a variety of birds, spiders and little lizards which are usually highly abundant, but no not alot. I did howebver get to spend more time with Emma (hello Mrs Saunders glad you found this...), Chris, Euan and Debbie, in [View Full Entry]

Hey guys and gals yet another few days have passed and it has been non stop here. Most of the letters are missing from my keyboard so i apologuise now for my spelling. Well our boat trip took us to an island a lot of people would class as paradise, palm trees, whitish sand, crystal water, reef and small fish great for snorkling. It was brilliant to just chill out, swim and eat cheese and ham sandwiches. What more could you ask for, well some shade at times although the safe tan is coming on. The following day we organinsed another [View Full Entry]

Hello eveyone, Here is a big hello from Panama, well a small island called Bocas Del Torro. It is very relaxed and hot here. Which means i am very chilled out buut slightly burnt!!! I did rememeber my hat but Dave forgot to remind me a bout my sun lotion. I am not sure how much i can blame on him these days... Well since my last installment, we (a group of us that keeps getting smaller from Raleigh) have been travelling together. After finishing up at field base we all travelled by bus to a beach town called Chauita, it [View Full Entry]
