It’s been some busy days here after I arrived. Today I have the day off, and I have spent the most of the day catching up on my sleep - which has been brilliant. Went to the market today in order to buy shoes and some clothes, but the shoes were not so good, and apparently I am too big to buy clothes here. It can really do harm to one’s self-image to try to buy clothes in a country where everyone is the size of a ten year old back home. I have been invited to a wedding in a couple of days, which have caused me a bit of a headache. I didn’t bring any nice clothes with me, or at least not in the “attending-a-wedding-party” category, and since I am too big to ... read more

SO, finally in Cambodia, Sihanoukville. After a rather bothersome trip from Australia I am finally here. First I managed to be refused to get on my plane from Cairns to Brisbane. These very cheap airlines are such a pain in the bum. Then, at the international airport in Brisbane I managed to confuse everyone there by claiming that 'yes, I do want to go to Cambodia', and 'no, I do not have a visa yet', and the killer sentence were of course 'no, I do not have a return ticket, or any ticket as such out of the country'. Many phonecalls later, many airport officials later, I finally got them to agree that maybe, but just maybe, there was a slight chance that the Khmer custom would let me in. Pointing out to them that there ... read more

The other day my day started not so good, and it should be sufficient to say that I found it a tad hard to be welcoming and smiling to all the customers on the boat. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I had students that day, which gave me lots of good opportunities to yell at them and roll my eyes for no good reason. On our first dive for the day the students needed to do a compass swim. As I have earlier had students’ watches interfere with compasses and a few students on their way to PNG, I decided to make my students take their watches off and leave them on the boat. Which of course sounds like the most reasonable decision. However, things were a bit hectic on the back deck, since the sea was ... read more

I have no number of how many times some customer on the boat will tell me, with envy blazing out of their eyes, that I am so lucky to do what I am doing. And every time I will patiently reply that in the end of the day this is a job as every other job. Sometimes there are good days, but too often there are not so good days, and sometimes you are just left to ponder why you didn't go for the nice office job... But, when the going is good the going is very good... or something like that. When you have a good day, or a good dive, the whole world is a better place, and you cannot think of one single good reason why you ever would want to give this ... read more

So, just thought I would share some images with the world and all my friends of how my life is... Envious anyone?? Hmm... on second thought... this whole uploading business does take ages, and I haven't had dinner yet (yes, I am ruled by my tummy) so I guess I will wait with more uploading untill another day (a better day).... read more

Well, it's a new day, and Kat has received some new job offers. Not only do I have a job offer from Vietnam, which were covered in past post, but I also just today received a job offer from Cambodia. The problem here is that although I am thrilled to have received these offers, and would lurve to work and live in both Vietnam or Cambodia for some time, the pay is rather bad. Well, for living in Cambodia or Vietnam the pay is very good, but taking into account that I will have to repay a quite hefty student loan at home as well as owing money hither and tither it is not really doable. Which do kill me!!!! And of course, I am in some dialouges with a couple of diveshops in the Philippines, ... read more

Today I have stopped. Not stopped anything in particular. Just stopped. As in being still. Looking at the planes in the sky and dream of getting on one of them. I think the girls in the travel agency thinks I am a bit of a sad nutcase. Every week I come in and ask for a price to a different destination. Sometimes I come by several times within the same week. I think they think I will never get anywhere. But they are WRONG. Sometime soon I will also be flying through the sky. To foreign lands and all that.... read more

Ellers saa skjedde det sproeste her paa mandagen da. Vel, tror du faen meg ikke ... read more
