Another fascinating adventure
The Himba Tribe was not on our list but sounds like it should be. Thank you for sharing your stories and amazing photographs. Can't wait for the next blog.

Hi Merry & Dave, thanks for the encouragements (next episode is an extreme one!) and yes no doubt you would enjoy very much meeting the Himba/ discovering Namibia !

Just saw this blog and then read your profile and flipped back to see some of your blogs from North Korea, South America, Asia and all the places you have traveled. What an adventure - you have the most amazing life!

The Himba Tribe
I've wanted to visit the Himba Tribe for a few years, and reading your blog has only increased that desire further. Very interesting blog on a totally different way of life.

Re: The Himba Tribe
Hi Shane, guess it is something to keep on your bucket list :-), and better do it sooner than later (still somehow off the tourist trail, didn't see any other foreigners that day but doubt it is going to stay that way for much longer...)

Too many great photos to single any one out. Thanks for all the practical info - camping in or near one the savanna's national parks is a "to do" adventure for us. Glad to see it's rather reasonable.

This is Africa !

Self drive
Nothing like a solitary acacia to evoke African scenery. With a tour guide you can keep in touch with other guides to know the current location of game. Did you feel disadvantaged in this respect with your self drive or was the freedom an overwhelming advantage?

This is Africa !

Hi Dave, very good point raised (as usual) and one of the reason why we still took a guided tour the 2nd day. Now, having seen both (self drive vs guided one), would say that in both cases info comes from other people you cross; guide don't have radio & there is no mobile phone signal in most places so they do the same as us, slow down when you see another car and ask :-) worked pretty well ! Thanks for the comment about the tree, a special one indeed ! Arhh Africa

What wonderful photos and Etosha Village does sound like the better option. Thanks for sharing. Love your blog, as always~ :)

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
I read your blog and drooled over all these beautiful photos this morning. All I can say now is, I think I want to sell all of my possessions and take my kids on safari. We did something similar in Kenya before kids, but now I want to take them to experience all of this wonderfulness. Thanks so much for this tantalizing entry!

Indeed a perfect place for kids !
And you might not even have to sell your possessions ! The canvas suite like the one we got has an extra convertible bed so if you are a family of 4. you are looking at 130/night, a real bargain :-)

Lindisimas fotos! Laeti, the more you are standing out catching your photos, the more we are convinced that you are outstanding photogarpher! :) Gracias y mucha suerte con sus proximos viajes!

Great information
As always you are out there exploring. Loved the photo of changing the tire. Glad there were not any lurking lions at that time. Sounds like you can do it for a reasonable price. I really like this shot. [photo=7481015]

Thanks
Thanks to all of you for the comments, and yes Dave & Merry still out there although I don't have as much time as I wish to blog but then so far 2013 has been great so cannot complain either !

I shall use it wisely

Left field
You sure know how to choose some off the beaten track destinations. By the way, surfing in Liberia? Tell me more!
26th January 2013

Surfing in Liberia indeed!
Surfing in Liberia is definitely off the beaten track but just like Sierra Leone there are some really got spots! Robertsport (2H north of Monrovia toward Sierra Leone) would be the place to go + there is a surfer lodge where you can stay/eat/meet other surfers :-) if you need more info, don't hesitate to send me a PM. Cheers

Excellent adventure!
I've been out of email lands, so i'm just now reading of your new home--you always choose such adventurous places. What a wonderful chimp encounter in those great dugouts! I look forward to reading of your weekend adventures, and I'd also love to learn of your mission and work there. You are a real inspiration!
