Finally, finally, yes, here it is. The last installment of our travelblog that covers the end of our fabulous journey, and will also cover what happened next! We know we've been back now for almost 9 months, and we've been getting hassle of family and friends to finish the final chapter. So apologies for not completing it sooner, but here goes! Argentina So the last time we left you it was the scariest landing we’ve ever had. The 3 attempts trying to get down was starting to get a bit nerve racking, but there were lots of cheers for the pilot as the plane touched down safe in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires (BA). Also with a large Argentine guy shaking Kev’s hand saying something in Spanish along with the international sign for ‘thank god ... read more

Buenos Dias from Buenos Aires, So here we are, finally, in the penultimate country before heading back to Blighty. Can´t quite believe its almost over, 5 months down with under 2 weeks now left. Mad. Ok, but before that we need to fill in the Peru gap where we spent 3 weeks wining, dining and climbing. We left it last time having just gone over the border from Bolivia to the Peruvian town of Puno. We completed the trip to Cusco with the friends we´d made in Copacabana, although it wasn´t as simple as we´d hoped. No barricades, no protests just the locals trying to get through to Cusco before the next series of strikes. Cue streams of packages, people, more packages and what seemed to be someones house move all trying to get on our ... read more

Hi everyone, we hope you´re all well and welcome to the Bolivia blog from the last couple of weeks. This was one country that we were a bit dubious about, but as you´ll read on we really enjoyed it. A bit of a step back from Chile, but it provided a more cultural view of South America as well as a view of the poorer side of the area. So, we start at the end of our Chile adventures in the desert town of San Pedro de Attacama. We really enjoyed this little place and were sad to leave (especially all the dogs). From here the Bolivian border can be seen high up in the mountains overlooking the town, and it was an hours bus drive there, but also about 2500M vertical too. You could really ... read more

Hola Senoritas y Senors!!! Como Estas? Yep we are doing fine as well! We won"t impress you anymore with our Spanish,,, just yet. So yes, we are now in Chile. Firstly though we just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their kinds words, gestures and general all round excitement about our engagement. We will definitely celebrate with you all when we get back. Which,,, isn"t that far away, but anyhow, still heaps to see and do first. Monday the 8th of June 2009 goes down as the longest day ever,,, 39 hours due to the international date line, flying across the Pacific for 11 hours in a slightly bumpy crosswind, with only Antarctica nearby we landed in sunny Santiago, Chile. Straight into the deep end we used all the local transport to get to the ... read more

Hi Everyone, Hope you're all well and enjoying the warm weather back home. Last time we wrote we left you in the middle of the Cook Strait heading to the North Island of New Zealand. On arriving in Wellington we were met by the warm waves and smiles of Jon and his wife Bridget. (Jon being Kev's dad's cousin, or Kev's 2nd Cousin we later determind.) So nice to be met on arrival in a new place and not work out how to get somewhere. We spent 4 nights with them enjoying great hospitality and being shown around the sights and sounds of Wellington and Island bay where they live. On the first night we had another first for us,,,,, a Piano Concerto, most enjoyable. Highlights also included meeting more of their family, walks through the ... read more

Hi everyone, Been a bit of a while since the last blog, apologies,,, expensive, slow internet in some places. To catch up from last time we'd just arrived in New Zealand to a slightly colder place than the rest of the trip. After picking up a car from the airport (christened J-Lo, because it had a massive boot) we spent the night nearby at a little place called Sumner on the Banks Pennisular. Gorgeous spot. The backpackers had its own bar as well, Awesome dude (as they say here!) The next day we drove down the coast to Oamaru where we went to the nearby Penguin (the town is mad for them) Sanctuary. We watched about 30 'Little Blue' penguins come ashore into their en suite appartments. Very Cute. After warming up the next day we ... read more

Hi Everyone, Hope everyone is well and not suffering from cold symptons where ever you are! Also before you read details in here, we're fine, no injuries, if that's got you wondering, read on. Perth Ok, so last we wrote we were just about to leave Singapore to head to Oz. We arrived just after midnight in Perth and in our wisdom decided rather than head into town to pay for a room that we'd only sleep in for a few hours, that we'd sleep in the airport. Genius... apart from the fact we couldn't sleep and nothing was open. So after arriving in town and getting digs we went to the massive Kings Park and had a kip whilst the locals ran, cycles, jogged, power walked or just took their dogs for a walk around ... read more

Hi Everyone, Welcome to the next instalment of our travel blog. (Feeling like Judith Charmers a bit here). Just so you know we are far far away from all the hassles in Thailand at the moment so no need to worry on that one. Thailand (again) Ok, so from the last time we were on the marathon journey from Cambodia, into Thailand to the island of Ko Samui. After a bus, mini bus, over night sleeper bus, bus terminal, ferry, wet tuk tuk ride and a 20 min walk we arrived in the beautiful Bo Phut on the NE side of the island. After ditching our bags and showering we headed for some much deserved food and beer at the nearby beach bars. Having just ordered hot sarnies Maria noticed someone in the next bar along ... read more

Its been a while!!! We've been having problems with our camera and so not been able to load up pics, plus too busy sitting on beaches, drinking and eating, which sounds a better excuse. Vietnam Cont.... Ok, so the last update we did was in Saigon, the day after we headed to the Cu Chi Tunnels which is where the Vietnam Communists soldiers (North Vietnam) used to hang out during the war. Fascintating place, see the pics of us in the tunnels, which were tiny, even for Maria. Kev got to fire off an M16 sub machine gun in the fireing range, just like COD5 he said! Though Maria thought it was just so loud. We got to see the different traps they used to stop the Americans, pretty nasty stuff with man traps and 9 ... read more

Hi all, Finally, after 2 failed attempts here's the blog for the last couple of weeks. Ok, since the last time we wrote we've moved into Vietnam, and have almost gone from the top to the bottom over the last couple of weeks. Its so beautiful in places and yet still so rugged and basic in others. Definitly somewhere we'll come back to one day. We arrived in Hanoi Wedneday week ago (4th March), after flying from Vientiane in Laos. The flight was,,, er,,, interesting as it was a turbo prop that made so many, 'not plane like' noises, and what with no visibility for the entire descent we were very happy that the 4x1 cm tuna sarnies took our minds of it for a short time. Landing we thought we'd arrived back at Heathrow, it ... read more
