Hello hello, very sorry for the delay but we have been very busy since starting out Kiwi experience trip around New Zealand. So since leaving Auckland we boarded the kiwi experience bus on Monday (16th April) morning and headed toward Cathedral Cove on the North East of the North Island in the Coromandel Peninsula. We spend the day on Cathedral Cove beach and then in the evening headed to 'Hot Water Beach.' The reason for it's name is because beneath the beach volcanic hot springs run out into the sea and at low tide you can go down to the beach with spades and dig your own thermal hot pool in the sand. The next day 17/4 we drove to Waitomo where we went 'Black Water Rafting' which involves taking an inflated tyre inner tube down ... read more

After a great week in Auckland we decided to book ourselves onto a bus to travel 3 hours North of Auckland to the bay of islands which is a collection of over 100 different sized islands and bays. We had also bought a discounted coupon online (similar to groupon) that entitled us to a half price 16,000ft skydive at the Sky Dive Zone centre in the bay of islands. We caught the bus on the morning of Tuesday 10th to Paihia, when we arrived the weather was great and we spent the afternoon exploring the town and some of the coastline. Our skydive was booked for the next day but when we woke up the weather wasn't great and it only got worse throughout the day, we had to reschedule for the day after (Thursday 12th). ... read more

Hello! Apologise for the lack of updates. Since our previous update we spent our final fews days in south america cycling around the wineries of Mendoza in Argentina and sampling the local produce. We then caught the bus over the border into Chile through the beautifully scenic Andes mountains. We had two days in Santiago which had a very european feel to it, reminding us of our time back in Buenos Aires. We took a walking tour around the city and unfortunately wish we'd have given ourselves more time there as we only had 2 days there before our flight to New Zealand. We left Santiago at 11pm on Sunday the 1st of April and landed in Auckland at 4am on Tuesday the 3rd. Even though the flight only lasted 13 hours we lost a whole ... read more

20/3/12 We met our group at 7:45am in San Pedro and headed for the Bolivian border which was just an hour away. The Bolivian immigration office was at 4300m above sea level and absoluetly freezing. It was the strangest border crossing we have ever been to as it was a small hut in the middle of the desert, anyway our passports were stamped and we had breakfast with the group on our minibus. After breakfast we were split into groups of six and designated a 4x4 jeep and a driver for the rest of the tour. We were very lucky with our group as we had another English couple from London, an airhostess from Holland and a half Chilean plumber from Norway. Everyone was lovely and we all got on great, making our 3 day experience ... read more

Sorry about the lack of blogging, it's been non stop and we're covered an enormous amount of ground the last few weeks and haven't had a chance to stop. 6/3/12 The journey from La Paz to Copacabana was an interesting one, it cost us 1 pound 50p each to travel for 4 hours along muddy uneven roads surrounded by locals. On the jounrney we had to catch a small boat over part of the lake to get to the other side. 7/3/12 On our first full day in Copacabana we took a day trip out on the lake to visit Isla del Sol (Island of the Sun) we took a slow boat to the island which lasted about 2 hours. We were dropped off at the North end of the island and were given two options, ... read more

Hi everyone! We have spent the last week in the amazing city of Rio! We have had the best time and are very sad to be leaving. We met up with 3 friends from uni so it was really nice to be in a bigger group. We had all booked to stay in a hostel in an area called Ipanema which is next to Copacabana. Its a lovely area with a shops, cafes, resturants and a main square. Our hostel is only 2 blocks from the beach so we have made good use of the close proximity! On our first full day (Friday 24th) we headed stright to the Christ the Redeemer statue which hits on Corcovado hill. We reached the top quite quickly and the views of the city were breathtaking. We learnt about the ... read more

Hello everyone, 14/2/2012 We survived our 17 hour coach journey from BA and arrived in Peurto Iguazu safe and sound. The coach journey was like nothing we have experienced, we paid a little extra for cama (2nd class) and we got wide and very comfortable seats which reclined to virtually flat. We were offered sweets on depature, a hot meal which was better than most airline food, with the choice of wine and or beer as an accompaniment and the choice of whiskey or champagne to finish. Needless to say we slept quite well, not as smooth as flying but for the price it was veyr reasonable. We arrived in Puerto Iguazu around 2pm and booked into our hostel called Marcopolo Hostel, we were in a 6 bed dorm and lucky enough to be put in ... read more

Hi guys! Just a quick one because we're leaving Buenos Aires tonight and taking a 17 hour coach journey North to the Iguazu Falls (what a way to spend valentines day). The last few days have mainly been planning the next month or so of travelling, we have booked our accommodation for the next 3 weeks or so. We're now feeling more organised and relaxed as we know where we are heading and when. There isn't a huge amount to report as we've just been getting to know the area and seeing a few sights close by, however, on saturday we headed 3 hours out of BA into a town called Gualeguaychu for their regional carnaval, which happens every weekend throught January and February. It was to say the least amazing, beginning at 10pm and finishing ... read more

Ola from Buenos Aires! Firstly, we are both in very good health and having an amazing time. The flight was fine and we (mainly Jess) managed to sleep most of the journey, arriving in a very warm Argentina on Thursday morning. Marcos (who we are staying with) was kind enough to meet us at the airport and he had planned a day of sight-seeing for us to kick start our time here. As you can see from the location we have selected, we are staying in a suburb of BA called Vincente Lopez, which is very nice and green (complete with private security guards and its own swimming pool). Currently, Marcos, his wife Luisina and his 2 year old son Lucas are staying with Luisina's mother whilst work is being done on their house, so as ... read more
