I have already headed to Phoenix while I am writing this, but I haven’t had much motivation to blog about the cycle trip. We’re in Las Vegas already, and I figure I better wrap this up. I’m not sure if I can start another blog at the same web address as my cycle trip, so either watch for another link on here or just check this same blog for my Phoenix trip blog. The whole trip around the US and part of Canada logged about 11,300 miles in 69 days. What an incredible trip it was! The bike performed flawlessly, and [View Full Entry]

What a long day of driving! My butt hurts so bad! But it is so nice to be home again. The drive today was pretty uneventful. It was definitely some nice weather today, I heard it was in the 90’s in the valley. Sorry to disappoint you if you were looking for some spectacular finish to the trip. I knew I had a long way to drive today, and set my mind to just getting it done. I actually made it home at a decent time too, and it took me about 10 hours to get back. My parents just got [View Full Entry]

Yesterday we went on a tour of the Filer area. The Hooleys are great tour guides, I must admit. We went and hiked around a local rock formation. Next we saw a local alligator and fish farm. The alligators were huge! I believe they grow them until they are pretty large, then sell the meat at a local restaurant. We also visited a local spring and fish hatchery. We were able to walk around and see all the different sizes of fish. They even had a viewing window in one of the ponds where there were salmon, trout, and sturgeon. The [View Full Entry]

Today started out as another cold day of riding, nothing new though looking at the trend this last week. I did not hit any rain today, which was a nice change. The scenery was very nice today, especially around the Salt Lake City area. Going up toward Idaho things get a little more sparse and barren, but it is still a decent drive. It was nearly all interstate today, as I needed to make some good time. I wasn’t able to get a hold of Dale to see if they would be around tonight, so I called Andy Hooley and he [View Full Entry]

Yesterday I left Quinter and headed to Denver. It was another day of cold riding, but at least it was dry. It warmed up significantly as I approached Denver, and I was in the process of out-running the nearby thunderstorm. I was successful. I ended up staying with Kristin and Andrea in Denver, as Josh ended up having to work. I spent some time at the library in the afternoon, and headed over to their place in the evening. We just talked for a while, then I headed to bed because I was exhausted. I met some interesting people yesterday as [View Full Entry]

I’m really starting to fall behind on my daily blogging, and I apologize if any of you worry about me when I don’t blog daily. It is not that I don’t enjoy blogging, I just have a lot of things I have been doing with old friends. When I have the time I like to blog. And I know the days of this trip are coming to an end. I will be home in 6 days! Ok, time to do some catching up. Thursday afternoon I headed to Lincoln and over to Rick and Wanda’s, like I probably mentioned in the [View Full Entry]

A lot of times I feel like the Lord blesses me more than I really deserve. Family, friends, and safety are some examples just to name a few. I guess the longer I am on this trip, the more I am able to see life in a new way and from a different perspective than I have had in the past. Being out of school is such a freeing experience for me, and I feel like I am finally able to find myself again. At times I feel like I should settle down with a job and whatever else, but other [View Full Entry]

Last Sunday I went to church with Kayla and her family. There is a church that meets in the summer time and they hold services on the lake. There is a PA system on the pier, and the pastor stands on a boat and preaches into the wireless microphone. There are lots of boats that show up, and it was a pretty cool experience. Kayla's brother and his wife were there with their 2 golden retrievers too. The oldest dog is pretty laid back, but I am not going to lie by saying that I thought about it more than once [View Full Entry]

I stayed in Bluffton for a couple days, enough to hang out and catch up a little bit. Annie showed me around Bluffton’s campus, which I had never seen before. I watched the women’s soccer game against Goshen, and was quite impressed with Goshen’s team! Early on in the game Bluffton scored one goal and going into the second half the score was 1-0 Bluffton. Goshen pulled through with 4 goals that half, and won the game 4-1! I think I picked a great game to watch. This was Goshen’s first game of the season, and from what I saw everyone [View Full Entry]

Wow, this is day 50 since I left home! It definitely doesn’t seem like I have been gone that long. Yesterday I rode back roads from Charleston, West Virginia to Orrville, Ohio. It was all nice riding, and it was filled with sweeping turns, blind corners, and lots of elevation changes over blind hills. I even had a large bird almost hit me, I have no idea what kind it was. I do know it had a wingspan of at least 4 feet, and it was diving toward me from behind. It was right at a time where I was cresting [View Full Entry]
