Home via Thailand

 Asia » Thailand » Central » Bangkok
Well here goes for the last entry. Left Sydney for the 10 hour flight to Bangkok (it started to rain as we left haha!) Arrived in a very humid Bangkok at around midnight to a waiting (pre arranged) air conditioned car (thank god) to take us to the 'Dream' hotel in the City. Have to say that this is one of the nicest Hotels I have ever stayed in and its a steal at around £20 each per night and that includes a delicious breakfast. Its the top rated Boutique Hotel in Thailand and rated third in all Asia and has [View Full Entry]

Sydney Mardi Gras Here goes for probably our last entry from Australia. Arrived in Sydney last Wednesday and took full advantage of the very comfortable hotel room after so many weeks in the tent (even though that was surprisingly comfortable too) (Paul is very sad tht he has now sold it) Had to change hotels on Friday as Sydney is full due to the 30th Annual Mardi Gras and made the mistake of overdoing things at the Bars on Oxford Street the night before. Checked into the new hotel, grabbed ourselves a nice greasy fry up and again took full advantage [View Full Entry]

Adelaide / The Great Ocean Road / Melbourne / Return to Brisbane The End Of the Road Trip The Great Ocean Road: Left Adelaide for the days drive to Warnambool which is the start of The Great Ocean Road at its western end. Set up for the night (very cold) and went exploring the town which was surprisingly nice (probably could have spent a little more time there if we had known) Found a great old fashioned type burger place and had the best burger since we got here (it reminded me of the diner in 'Grease', so much so that [View Full Entry]

Perth/Margaret River (g) Apologies for the lack of blog. We have been kicking our heels back for the past few weeks in Perth after the long drive. Spent Christmas day on the beach in the 45 degree heat eating Chicken and Stuffing rolls (couldn't get a cooked Turkey!) First time away from one of Mothers Xmas feasts and have to say it felt a little odd! Spent New years at a house party of two lovely girls (Sophie and Emma) that we met in Perth and had a really good night. So good infact that we didnt roll back into bed [View Full Entry]

In Perth until next Friday (4th Jan) so we'll see in 2008 in town with a few drinks. Car was up for sale here and has generated interest but we have now decided to continue driving around the southern part of the country. This takes in South West corner wine region [View Full Entry]

(G) Left Broome for Exmouth via the Karajini National Park. Roads in the Park were really quite shocking and gave us our first puncture on the car. Managed to get the spare on (once we had figured out where the Jack was) and continued the journey both covered in Red Dust and looking like we had been tango'd. Now arrived in Exmouth (35 degrees!) for three days. Road Kill Count - Paul, a whole heap of birds now. Glyn, a lizard and a few birds too. Some Piccies attached (Paul was having a bit of a David Bailey moment on Cable [View Full Entry]

Darwin / Litchfield National Park / Katherine Gorge / Wolfe Creek (AARGH!) Firstly, apologies for the typos and spelling in the last entry (Alice Springs is not surrounded by a dessert because if it was an apple pie I would have eaten it on the way through! Its actually surrounded by a desert.) Typed it up in around 5mins due to the shockingly bad Internet connections over here! Note to self - proof read before publishing. (Apologies for the Map and some photos duplicated - site was giving me some trouble!) The Long and (not so) Winding Road (G) Apologies if this entry is a tad long but we have just driven 4500km in 5 days and camped by the roadside for the first time which is surely worthy of a note! Cairns to Mount Isa Left Cairns early on Tuesday morning for the long drive ahead during the most torrential of downpours which, looking on the bright side washed away the huge piles of bird droppings on the car (no little sparrows over here!)
